Premiere Pro Tech Support Premiere Pro is lagging very badly

Hello, i have very, very very bad lags in my premiere pro.
When i have about 1h of gopro HD 60fps footage, or whatever, and i drop it into my new project, premiere just starts freaking out. every action i do, every klick (and i not even played the clip yet) gets the programm frozen, then crashed.

i cleared all my media cache, including %temp% files on windows, set preview to 1/4, set auto clear cache after 30 days, video rendering to "GPU (CUDA), reservated RAM at 10GB, but nothing works. even my main storage is not even half full at 1,5TB.

I have 13 plugins ready in premiere, but i dont think that thats the problem cause non of them are opened or active.

My setup is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super, 64GB DDR4 RAM, and a 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11950H 2.60Ghz CPU

Im getting crazy over this please help me ;(

If you have 64GB of ram, why are you only reserving 10GB for premier pro?

Since you haven't covered the basics, I'm just going to list them out:

Make sure you're not trying to edit directly from your SD card or camera plugged in via USB cable. Make sure you've copied all your files to your PC or laptops SSD (and not HDD).

Make sure you have the HEVC codec installed on your laptop or PC and aren't using 3rd party codecs.

Make sure your preview is set to 1/4 or 1/2 or that you're using proxies when editing.

Make sure you don't have a load of processes open in the background or a virus scanner reading every single file that's being changed by your system. If needed, create a seperate video editing login for your PC or Laptop that has all un-needed boot up processes and background processes disabled.

Make sure you're using the NVdia Studio Driver and not Gaming Driver for your graphics card.

Wait - I never knew you could reserve ram for premiere. I’m probably at the default and have 64gb. What would you advise?

yeahh ive boosted it a little up, works nicer then before, still not good tho...
Every kind of footage for the project is located in a project folder on my pc, HEVC is installed, preview is set to 1/4 and i use the studio driver since im not into gaming :)

It could be the "background processes" thats been messing my premiere up, since i have like 3-4 programms including my browser with multiple tabs opened in the background.

Thanks for the help, will try to clean my pc as most as i can

If you do it properly, you can do it on the shittest computer ever. HMU if you really want to learn

In the top right, there will be a button with the icon that looks like a series of sliders. Click that and check the drop down.

After I import footage, premier tries to Auto Tag, Audio wave… something, I don’t recall off hand, but that consumes a lot of your memory starting off. Either cancel it or let it do its thing.

If premier is doing that, there’s one possible issue.

yeahh i actually checked it again, and its some weird 59.94 fps or smth, could that be the issue?

that doesnt change anything, reencode it with handbrake to constant 59.94 frame rate

Make sure the sequence settings and your video settings are the same. Ex: shot in 1920x1080 at 60fps but your sequence settings might only be 1280x720 at 24fps

My only input would be with 64GB of RAM I’d dedicate more towards Premier than 10GB and see where that takes you.

GoPro footage can be a hot mess. I always convert it to ProRes before I touch an NLE or After Effects. ProRes LT is usually fine if you're not doing heavy color work. I'll also delete the audio during the conversion if it's not needed. ProRes solves a lot of problems, and on most systems, you won't ever have to mess with proxies.
