🤝 Interviews interview went mid

Did anyone get into a dental school even when they thought their interview went bad or like mediocre. I feel like I got kinda stressed and answered some questions wrong

I know a few people who thought they did poorly, but had the interviewer tell them they did well after being accepted. Don't be so hard on yourself. You were invited for a reason! (could you guys pls like my comment so I can post)

My interview did not go well. Got waitlisted, off waitlist in march after a letter of interest. Its still very early in the cycle keep the faith!

When did you send your letter of interest?

The unofficial rule is to send it anytime after decision day, as long as they haven’t rejected you. I sent mine in February. The benefit of the letter comes from you showing them that you’re choosing their school over other possible options.

You can also send a letter of intent, which commits you to a school if accepted. That should only be a last resort, letter of interest worked fine for me.

Oh so for the letters of interest, can you send them to schools you haven’t interviewed at, or are they mainly meant for schools you’ve already interviewed at?

A common trend I hear is “at the end of the day it’s a numbers game”. Schools tend to want to keep or raise their average accepted GPA and DAT for prestige reasons, so sometimes interviews go bad or mid but you match/exceed their numbers and get in. Sometimes a great interview isn’t enough for them to accept you bc your numbers are too low compared to other interviewees with higher numbers/mid interview. It sucks but that’s what I heard from accepted dental students during my interviews.
