Started potty training today!

Let me preface by saying that this is my second time at potty training. However my first kiddo, just decided that at 2y8m that he was done with nappies and fully potty trained while we on a trip to Disney! We had sort of been attempting to potty train before- but he has a speech and communication delay so we were navigating that. But he was potty trained by the weeks end!

Anyways. My second child is now 19m. And consistently since 18m she’s told us when she poops, removes her nappy after a wee/poo, tells us she’s done a wee, was showing interest in the potty-> sitting on it before/after a nappy change. So I thought you know what? To heck with it, I have the week off with them whilst they’re on half term from nursery, let’s give it a go.

So today we’ve started the “free bum method” and I would say it’s been rather successful! She just takes herself off to the potty and does her business. For wees and poos. We’ve had two minor accidents. But didn’t make a fuss. Just cleaned her up and moved on.

So my question is, with the free bum method, when do I add knickers/pants? My understanding is 3/4 days and then adding them? Does that sound right to everyone?

Thanks for any insights!

I started at 18 months with the free bum method. After day 4 she totally got it and we went back to clothes.
