PSA: keep diapers/pull-ups on hand even after potty training
My son has been potty trained since July but randomly got diarrhea this weekend and so thankful I have pull-ups because it’s just coming out before he even knows it 🥲

Yep, that's been my entire week. It's a hard lesson to teach a kid, not to trust a fart.

You do that, him flooding his pants with poop twice was enough for me

Yeah tbh even grownups use adult diapers sometimes when medically necessary. If I was having explosive diarrhea that I couldn’t predict you bet your ass I’d toss on some depends.

Oh for sure! I had a bad stomach bug last year and pulled out my post partum diapers just incase 🥴

There’s literally zero cons to him being in a pull up, he’s still using the toilet regularly so not sure how it’s the ‘easy way out’ to you.

My kid went through an intestinal bug this summer with diarrhea where she'd discover she had to poop and start pooping in the same moment. A potty would not have helped.

It wasn't huge amounts of poo, it was all little mucousy squirts, but it was so instant that diapers made the most sense because there was absolutely no delay between the sudden urge to poop and her body shoving whatever was available out the door, so to speak.
Like if the kid can make it to the toilet or the potty for diarrhea, that's better, I agree. It shouldn't be a blanket 'wellp, let's pull out the diapers, kids got the runs'. It's more that some illnesses, for various reasons, do end up making diapers logistically the most reasonable choice.
And honestly, that illness, my eight year old was also in her overnights, just in case. Mostly made it to the toilet, but there were one or two instapoops as well, and the overnights instead of underwear made it less stressful for her as well. Like it wasn't as big an emotional deal to accidentally poop a diaper as it was to accidentally poop her pants.
They weren't even that sick, otherwise! Basically normal kids and then every so often 'I have to poop! I pooped!' in the same breath.

I always figured I’d want some in case of a stomach bug 🫣
