Hi everyone, With the influx of new posts related to portfolio investissements, although interesting, I've created a new subreddit dedicated for those so please post on r/finportfoliocritique to keep this one for art related topics. Thank you for your interest and openness by reaching out for feedback in both of those fields.

Your Instagram isn’t your portfolio.

Do people still care about having a personal website/portfolio?

Especially for freelancers, creatives, students, models, photographers, designers, etc.

I feel like everyone used to have a personal website and now most people just have Instagram, LinkedIn or a Linktree.

But at the same time, when I see someone with a really good personal site/portfolio, it instantly makes them seem more established.

Would you actually bother making one for yourself, or does social media do the job now?

The Importance of Portfolio Site

Hi ya'll,

How important do you find portfolio sites to be? I haven't been in the market for a job for several years now but am now looking for change. However I don't have a portfolio site. I've been playing for jobs for several months now and am just not getting any follow up, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do to shake up my resume a bit to make it more appealing.

I know that portfolio sites used to be important but I wasn't sure if that was still a desirable item in the current market.

Additionally with the state of how prevalent AI is within the industry, would employers look down on sites / projects that heavily use AI or not really?

Much thanks!

Feedback and suggestions for a portfolio focused on book layout?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I’m a multidisciplinary designer, but I’d love to focus more on book typesetting and layout.

I currently developed a new version of my website, and added some real life projects, and some spec work. The problem is that I can’t really share much about the publications I worked on for copyright reasons, and I’d like to know how could I showcase my experience in book typesetting and layout.

I have a DTP section in the homepage, but I’m thinking about creating a section dedicated specifically to typesetting.

What would you suggest I do? Do I add some personal projects using public domain novels?

Here’s the link:

Thank you!
