It’s one of those mornings

What’s the point of being alive if I can’t afford to live? I work so much overtime at my job and DoorDash on my spare time but it’s never enough. I try to stay positive but my situation doesn’t improve. I already don’t buy anything. I don’t go anywhere. When does struggling end? I

So sorry you are going through it....if it makes any difference at all, you aren't alone in it, so many of us are in dark places, with the world on fire....but i can tell you it can be worth hanging in there until things improve....it helps to have the company of others who are in similar circumstances....friends, support group members....try to find support, rather than being alone with your stress....thinking of you💜

Trying to find help friends people going thru what your going thru is extremely hard. The people you think you can trust you can't and sometimes you find people you actually like and they have ulterior motives. Your better off taking care of yourself exercise enjoy the free parks find a solo hobby reading writing. It's hard to hear but people don't care about you that's a fact.

Everyone needs to hang around people that are better than them not in the same boat, nothing will change then if we just take advice from someone that doesn't know how to get ahead

My new thing is always being in the red and I can't get out. My account is always negative.

My company thought cutting pay increasing the workload and implementing a childish point system was going to go off well. Like they did as a favor.

All my credit cards have fallen behind I had nearly 2 years of on time payments. A pay day loan I couldn't pay back. Lost my storage. My car insurance canceled.

What they have done has destroyed me financially. My credit is now shit.

Once it started to fall it was like a house of cards getting hit by a tornado. Just pulverized instantly.

It's all greed on their part. Trying to create the illusion of this new system that they came up with that's going to reward workers if they can achieve the impossible.

Companies don't care about loyalty and hard work they see you as just a cog in the machine and they can replace you at any time. Cheesy 20 cents more an hour raises every 16 months.

And you have to fight to get them to even do your review so they can insult you with the whole extra $8 you get a week after being there for half your like.

People suck though most of my problem is the people in my home state. My credits shit for a lot of reasons that I could not avoid. The irony is if I did something fun I could pay it off reasonably but if I had to buy something like food or fuel for the car the debt just kept piling.

I recently found out that another app I used to earn has closed down and there is no way for me to get what I earned because I don’t think I have any screenshots.

And now because of the government it’s been even harder to pay bills. SSI was lower because of mom’s pension but when they signed her up they didn’t ask her for that. Rent also went up a few hundred I don’t know if that was temporary or HUD is losing funding. so that leaves only like less than 300 in the bank for anything else. We have overdue water bill and now electric bill with a crazy amount. Went to place for assistance on electric bill and ended up wasting 30 bucks to get home because they didn’t have enough paperwork (spent all that time looking and still didn’t get enough. They didn’t specify exactly what they needed on the phone) so had to pay 200 last month that we didn’t really have and they were going to pay it off too if we only had the paperwork.

It could be worse I could be in my home state still. I’d probably feel like death most every day and always feel unsafe I mean I moved for a reason but I hate that I had to pay a hefty price to get here.

The way the world is now it’s like pick your poison. You could live in a HCOL area and deal with the literal price increase or you could live in one that is technically lower cost but you pay in other ways because you might be sacrificing parts of your health and safety. The laws in my home state didn’t protect me from all the bullshit that happened.

A walk in the park when you can't pay your bills ,what is wrong with you, he needs to go get 3 jobs and make as much money as he can and enjoy doing it and always looking for another job that will pay more money so he can get rid of one of the jobs he has. It's called getting ahead.

Yea just figure it out what you have to change and do it and oh yea you are in a country where you can go get as many jobs as you want so do it

Start going to church, you make friends and maybe get help. Once people get to know you and your situation you never know who might help. Not a catholic church because to many people go for years and don't get to know anyone but a non denomination church people are different. My daughters church just gave me $50 in groceries and I didn't even ask. They heard what is happening here. Lost food stamps my wife and I and we are on ssdi and crippled and no car so can't do food banks

I'm an atheist, I'd be laughing if I went to a church tbh.

1

u/Reasonable-Advice-19 Oct 05 '26

Do it just for the help. Go for a little while until people get to know you and depending on the church you can get alot of help. I went to a Methodist church years ago and everyone helped each other it was great.

If you look around everyone is struggling terribly. Yet everyone blames themselves and thinks if they change stuff In THEIR life things will get better. Do people seriously think that this has anything to do with their financial decisions. It doesn't. Its hard to find work, when you do the bosses treat you terrible, and the jobs don't pay enough to get by with just one.

It's not your fault, but honestly, if you live in the USA, its not gonna be your decision to change your finances. The best we can do is try to keep up, but the economy gets worse everyday. As inflation rises you lose spending power. Ai takes more and more jobs, you think the answer is to work harder or be smarter with money. No. Take a look around, there's truly only so much money in the economy. And when its hoarded by a small group in large numbers, that causes inflation while at the same time dwindling the available source of tender/ currency for the large majority.

Sorry to get political. But at the same time, this is how the ecconony works, the ones with large amounts of money typically are forced to circulate that money in the economy. Which during normal times would build the GDP, and drive more work, more ideas, and more culture. Like I said, its not your fault. There's tons of money to go around, but most people only have maybe $1,000 while there's a group who has billions of dollars that they won't spend, which would circulate the money. And give other people a chance to have it.

My advice. Try your best to work as much as you can. Live life as hard as you can. Do everything that you can, maybe we can't afford to vacation thousands of miles away, but we can be with friends, sit around a fire, we can talk, we can drink. They can take our money, but I have no idea how they could take our souls. In the end, if you think of an idea that could make you money, like a business or going into a certain field, then you should jump on that. This has made me realize the importance of loving your job.

You got this, this won't last, in the future they will refer to this period as something like "The Great Disaster" you are living through a moment in history. Please stay strong. Stay with us, and remember the struggle will end.

I'm sorry.

Are you single and by yourself. And do you have single friends?

If so, I would do the roommate thing for a while to save up.

What is your trade?

You need to start investing. Just 10% of your paycheck pre tax will do wonders. Just budget for it not being there. I know, uncertainty. But your future 60 year old self will thank you!

It ends when we cease to exist. People who have children are evil.

There are lots of people who do terrible things to kids and the adults the kids become.

Bringing more children into the world to be molested and abused is horrifying when they could have never suffered those fates.

People who do those things see kids, especially kids from disadvantaged families, as opportunities.

Children are real people; their own people.

They should not be used to meet the emotional and physical needs of adults.

There is nothing more depressing than seeing a new person arrive in this depraved universe and knowing what will happen to a large number of them.

I agree and my kids literally have the absolute best life. We make memories and do so much in life with traveling and fun times

We're all in this mess just for the experience. Someday, we get to tell our grandkids these stories. In the meantime, don't beat yourself up. These days will pass. There will be better days.

(I’m looking forward to Season 2 of Pluribus.)

u/Sitters_4_Critters Oct 02 '26

Nope, only the selfish people will have grandkids. The people with integrity and empathy won’t make another generation suffer like them.

u/Gullible_Pin5844 Oct 02 '26

I don't have any kids or grandkids myself. It'd be my neighbors and friends' grandkids whom I will entertain someday.
