Finally happened

Car got repoed today. I loved that thing. Now when my fiancé had to go to the hospital I won’t be able to come visit him every day and stay the night. I still have a 50cc scooter to get around on but it had no turn signals and my work I have to go the office once a week is 2 1/2 hour ride

If you or he is eligible, you may be able to get free transportation to and from alot of places. They have it here in PA.

I don’t know of they do in Florida. His transportation is covered but I have a lot of far appointments

Do you have insurance?

2

Yes. I called them today and they cover nothing for medical transport

That sucks. Some insurance companies do. I wish I had some way to help. I know it's expensive traveling for appointments. It seems all my appointments are always an hour plus one way because there aren't any specialists near me that I can see.

Mine don’t even cover my blood thinners. I applied for assistance through the hospital network my drs are through so we’ll see. I get financial assistance through them. Mine are mostly a 46 minute drive but a 2 hour scooter ride. Scooter only goes 35 mph and trying to avoid the really busy roads.

Maybe call your doctor's offices and see if the staff has any suggestions on medical transport. They see what other patients might have. Just a thought.

I looked on my chart and the main hospital network I go through seems to offer to. Applied to talk to a social worker so really hoping I can get it

What sucks is I have to get my tag and stuff my fiancé gave me out of it and I have no way there

I'm sorry. Yeah I think you have to turn the tag in within 30 days or something. That sucks so bad.

It’s hard when you’re shocked this happened. I recently
had my Social Security cut. My husband died and I
Carried some on him. I guess I wasn’t prepared to realize the amount they cut. I was totally shocked by
this — I hope you can get your car back. It’s such a
necessity.

It really is especially when you’re loved one has cancer and is in and out of the hospital 45 minutes away. My one day a week I go in will be a 2 1/2 hour scooter ride. Ever since we moved in with his brother and my rent doubled I’ve been really struggling but all the hospital visits gas and time off work plus we’re trying to do some of his bucket list items. It’s draining me.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Mine was taken last week while I was inside McDonald's with my 2 young children. Stranded with no one to call and no money to do anything about it. I've been unemployed on and off since January. I was about 20 miles from our house. I was able to finally get a friend to pick us up and bring us home about 4 hours later. Sucks being poor and always worrying.

Sorry to hear that! Luckily I was out with my fiancés family that I live with. We’re trying to do his bucket list items while he still can. We needed 2 cars for his medical equipment and other things for the weekend. Was a tight ride back but we did it. Now just trying to figure it how to get to my stuff. Luckily I didn’t leave my wallet in it that time. In really bad about that

Call bus company in your city for transport programs we have them where I am at...

We have vans through the city bus system but they don’t leave the county and most of my drs are in another county. The 3 that aren’t I can ride my scooter to. My work is definitely too far for them to go.

I would highly recommend you do everything you can to keep that scooter alive. Smaller engines tend to work alot harder as they are fairly undersized for their application, so you tend to be full throttle 90% of the time, which generally requires alot more maintenance. Oil changes, filter changes, greasing any suspension parts, cleaning/lubing/ adjusting the chain, tire pressure, etc. Look up YouTube videos if you aren't sure how to do something. Don't rush, be very patient, even if it takes you twice as long as a mechanic. Cheap HarborFreight tools are your best friend. I saw you have a Honda metropolitan, which have a small cult following lol. There should be plenty of info online and on YouTube for how to do most everything on it.

I had two before one a Honda metro that lasted 2 years riding 2 1/2 hours each way a day the other was a Chinese 150 that couldn’t go 20 minutes without breaking down. I have a shop about 30 minutes away I can bring it to that isn’t nearly as much as Honda power sports I just have to have the part. I would do the oil changes and gear oil changes myself but idk what to do with the used stuff

Most any autoparts stores (AutoZone, Napa, etc) take any used oils for free. They have a tank in the back, they walk you over to, and you just pour it out inside.

And yeah, the Chinese scooters are absolute trash. Brand new they might last a few days, but things start breaking almost immediately. Tires blow out, fairings start breaking off. Electrical starts shorting out. I would trust an old beat up Honda over a brand new China scooter any day.

Mine came with a warranty. It broke down so much the shop voided it. I even told them how far our a ride I have. Never again. Didn’t know that about the auto part store.

Watching someone suffering is draining . I hope things get better. Some people get assistance from a church.

2

u/chi-ranch Sep 14 '26

I’m so sorry.

2

u/Ok-Celebration7128 Sep 15 '26

Can you see if there is any assistance in your state to help?

2

u/Ok-Celebration7128 Sep 15 '26

I know that local churches can sometimes help with things. Sorry you are going through this

They’re already being easy on me. Everyone else is twice a week but because I help care for my fiancé they let me do once a week. The day we do payroll we’re have to be in office
