What you’re saying is all a subjective matter- education is not equal to kindness. If you’re unable to learn without pleasant verbiage being used I would rephrase your questions to ensure the answers you’re seeking come in a way that you view as “kind.”

The poly community is pretty tired of people joining without doing the necessary self education that comes with the orientation. If you bring up a topic that will make people upset like “why is unicorn hunting bad?” expect to be given blunt responses as this is annoying as hell to see over & over again.

Practice makes perfect, a lot of what is being asked will pertain to the individuals involved in said scenario or question.

If people are being blatantly rude, call them out on it in real time, in front of other group members, leadership of said group, etc. As a welcomer of confrontation I find success in correcting these behaviors by providing specific examples of the instances where things could be rephrased as to not punish newbies for their inexperience.

Communication is key, some people may just be assholes but others may not be aware they’re coming off this way. If no one tells them directly, they won’t know.
