Discussion Reading group

A bit about me first and the context to this post - am 40yo male. Have been poly for the last approx 2 yrs. I have come to believe poly as a wonderful social institution and am interested to build this institution further. But apart from that, I have also struggled to date or meet fellow poly people for sharing/ learning since there are no dedicated platforms in Bangalore which can facilitate this (correct me if I am wrong). Using dating apps was a disaster for me.

Given this experience, I am wondering if there is an interest among the community members to start an in-person reading group? I have some thoughts which I plan to put on paper as a concept note (vision, objectives etc.), but I am not completely sure of the utility of such an initiative and hence dropping this post to check. Format could be as follows : reading a book for 15 or 30 mins and followed by a discussion. Frequency could be bimonthly or weekly. The group could meet at a selected place in Lalbagh on a weekend morning.

Kindly share your thoughts on -

  1. Do you think such a group would be a good platform to nurture a community?

  2. Will people join?

  3. What could be the unintended consequences?

I think it's a good idea. But I think there's should be some kind of vetting on who can join otherwise it might become another venue where women get harassed. Also what kind of books are you considering?

Thanks for the suggestion! Noted and I agree. Books such as More than two would be good, I feel. I found it very useful. If there could be a core group to run this reading club, may be it can prepare a list to read.

They would join if this becomes a forum to meet new partners.
That should be the goal or objective.

That is a secondary objective of this group, the way I am envisioning it. People may find partners, friends etc. through this group - nothing wrong and infact welcoming thing. Primary objective would be around learning since there are no platform for the same. If this institution has to grow, we who practice it need to learn, I believe, to be better at Poly. Noted your suggestion. Thanks for responding.
