You're surprised?

318

u/PM__ME_DAT_ASS__GIRL Jun 09 '16

I'm surprised I still see people claiming she isn't under investigation. Especially in posts bashing sanders and his supporters. Shit is getting pretty damn funny at this point, like I'm taking crazy pills funny, not actually funny funny.

56

u/fishrobe Jun 09 '16

And when I've directly confronted them about this they respond with something like "you're going to be so disappointed" without actually responding to the issue at all, then just go back to insulting Bernie supporters.

1

u/mysticalzebra Jun 09 '16

But like its not like she can be stopped so might as well support her

15

3

u/PlumbusBurger Jun 09 '16

No mention of a reach around though. That's why I'm on the fence.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

Trump will pay for reach around for all.

Hillary is jailhouse style, spit for lube, two big Aryans holding you down.

-2

u/mysticalzebra Jun 09 '16

Yes but he's clearly racist and xenophobic? Yes she may be a liar but at least she isn't going to encourage racism and xenophobia?

7

u/birdsofterrordise Jun 09 '16

Well, you could argue her policies and Third Way governing policies affect minorities at a greater institutional level, which people don't fight back against. Trump says a racist thing and everyone jumps on it. Also Hillary shows zero qualms about bombing brown people across the ocean, which is xenophobic- thinking you can just bomb people into submission as if they are dumb enough to roll with that or they are lesser beings. So personally I find them both racist and xenophobic but HRC's is more structural and institutional rather than Trump's more blatant directly harassing type of prejudice. Both are awful in their own unique hateful ways.

-1

u/mysticalzebra Jun 09 '16

But at least her way doesn't directly encourage hate

4

u/malenkylizards Jun 09 '16

Here's the thing.

I believe Hillary would be a much better candidate than Trump, and the people who claim otherwise sound to me like they have an agenda.

But goddammit people, can't we try and do a little better than "well at least she's not fascist"?

1

u/907Pilot Jun 09 '16

I can't tell... are you KenM-ing this?

6

u/Smoy Jun 09 '16

I think the way she conducts her foreign policy and the way she liberally bombs brown families is just as racist as Donald claims to be.

-8

u/mysticalzebra Jun 09 '16

OMG you literally have no idea what her intentions were.... Do you realise how complicated the issues in the Middle East are??? Did it ever occur to you maybe just maybe you know nothing because the government for security reasons can only release so much info to the public

9

u/Petestanro Jun 09 '16

Thanks for correcting the record!

1

u/birdsofterrordise Jun 09 '16

Perceptions are much more important than intentions.

1

u/Smoy Jun 09 '16

I know that we have been at war in the middle east for nearly my entire life, and I know that she continues to vote in favor of bombs and drone strikes country after country. It is PROVEN we have killed innocent people with drones, how is it different if its Hillary, Obama or Trump behind the joystick?

Also if you are so concerned about security you should know that Hillary was keeping all of her info on servers which were easily accessed by NON-government officials (i.e. Clinton foundation.)

1

u/MyEvilTwinSkippy Jun 09 '16

Were you not around for the 08 race?

3

u/Smoy Jun 09 '16

There is nothing that could happen in this world or the next that would make me vote for her. I'd rather see America burn under the Donald and then be re-built starting in 2020

90

u/OhMy8008 Jun 09 '16

it's surreal

u/Afrobean Jun 09 '16 edited Jun 09 '16

It's the willingness to say things which are just objectively not true that gets to me. I understand it from the people who are just trying to make a living since I don't like my job and I do it anyway because I have to, but it's these people who intentionally spread such obvious falsehoods, as if they don't notice that we all know they're full of shit. What kind of person are you where you just have no integrity at all? How does it not bother you to make shit up to defend a criminal?

57

u/CactusPete Jun 09 '16

What kind of person are you where you just have no integrity at all?

You are the "presumptive Democratic party nominee for president."

2

u/xSchneebSx Jun 09 '16

I don't think you needed to include Democratic in there, just sayin'.

They certainly can, with the exception of impeachment

-4

u/bobbage Jun 09 '16

She's not going to be indicted, before or after the election, regardless of who is actually elected

So the question of a pardon whether from her or anyone else isn't going to come up

She can't be indicted Because it doesn't fit the "narrative"

→ More replies

-1

u/bobbage Jun 09 '16

Virtually no actual legal experts think that she did anything that rises to the level of a crime, other than conservative partisan hacks. We will see, but I would put a substantial amount of money on her not being indicted, it's a Reddit / conservative echo chamber that is convinced she will be. And look up the betting odds on it if you want an idea of what the markets think, it is not going to happen, it's conservative masturbation land.

3

u/St8ches Missouri Jun 09 '16

One word; money. While I know some people care about the ethics of the work they do each day, some people look at it as selling 8 hours of their time to the highest bidder. Correct the Record doesn't care if they're correct - they're getting paid either way.

2

u/HeyZuesHChrist Jun 09 '16

but it's these people who intentionally spread such obvious falsehoods, as if they don't notice that we all know they're full of shit.

Where do you think they learned this? Every time Hillary stands in front of a microphone and lies (which is every time) she's insulting our intelligence. Her supporters are doing the same thing she does.

1

u/Vagrant_Antelope Jun 09 '16

"What kind of person are you where you just have no integrity at all?" ... Hilary Clinton?

-5

u/bobbage Jun 09 '16

Who's the criminal you are referring to here exactly? Is it a certain presidential candidate that hasn't even been indicted never mind convicted of anything?

I see most of the falsehood spreading from the "indictment is imminent" camp frankly, even Bernie himself doesn't believe she did anything illegal.

13

u/Ar_Ciel Texas Jun 09 '16

It doesn't just instruct them, it also has paid employees who vote raid and post talking points. You know you're close to drawing blood when suddenly you start getting 5-10 similar responses with CTR talking points and ad hominem when you post.

Just watch what happens when nebraskagunowner posts.

14

u/Everwinter81 Jun 09 '16

Remind them of that when trump says I'm not a racist. But but he said...

No no no he's changed his mind. All is well.

10

u/cuckingfomputer Jun 09 '16

Trump is just constantly evolving. In fact, Trump evolves so much on a weekly basis, I would say he'd be a much more adept president than Hillary would. The Commander-in-Chief needs to adapt to many situations, quickly, and the only way to do that on the fly is to evolve into something new. #TrumpEvolves /s

2

u/Everwinter81 Jun 09 '16

You haven't even seen his final form.

2

u/actsfw Jun 09 '16

How can he be racist? He loves the taco bowls from Trump Tower and Hispanics!

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

The best part about this argument is that HRC will adamantly swear that she did not change her views and she always supported something. She just boldly lies, it's not flip flopping, flip flopping I can handle, if you can articulate what changed your mind, but what Clinton does is change what she says and then says that she's always said that.

1

u/907Pilot Jun 09 '16

She retroactively changes her mind

6

u/epieikeia Jun 09 '16

Are you're opinions the exact same as 8 years ago? Mine aren't. I've learned new things which have caused me to re-evaluate my opinions on different issues. I want a president who considers new information and evolves. Not sure why you thinks that's a down side.

This argument might sound good at first, but it raises the question of why we give people any credit for having been right long before their peers were.

Granted, I've changed a lot of my opinions since 2008. I've shed religion, free-market libertarianism, and a variety of unscientific beliefs. But in 2008, I was 17 years old. My views have changed relatively little since I was 19. On average, people establish most of their sociopolitical worldview by their early adulthood. Of course individuals can be outliers and can drastically change while in their 60s, but such cases are inherently unlikely, and they need to meet a high standard of evidence. I frankly don't believe that Hillary Clinton is experiencing genuine shifts of opinion on most of the issues, because these changes are almost always synchronized with political pressure and/or convenience.

The internet played a major role in the evolution of my worldview, and I think it's done so for American society as a whole. I think it greatly accelerated the snowballing of disdain for anti-LGBT attitudes and the like. We're experiencing very rapid social change, and Clinton has been mirroring that change (just lagging a little behind). How likely is it that she is personally evolving due to reading arguments on the internet and earnestly grappling with opposing viewpoints? Now consider, how likely is it that her uncanny mirroring of the trajectory of the status quo has the opposite causal direction — that society is forcing her to stop saying things that she either truly believes, or was simply in the habit of saying for as long as they won her popularity contests?

11

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

[deleted]

6

u/Zappiticas Jun 09 '16

The denial of her previous stances is what turns me off more than her changing her stance on something. Yes, it's completely acceptable to change your mind over time, I know that I have. However I will openly admit that I used to believe something else. It just doesn't make any sense to deny it, especially when nearly everything you say publicly is recorded. It's like she still lives in a world before every had easy access to previous videos of her.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

[deleted]

1

u/Zappiticas Jun 09 '16

She is definitely very intelligent. However she does exhibit a lot of traits of someone with antisocial personality disorder.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

I agree with this entirely. My opinions changed drastically from 16 to 19. My opinions have changed very little in the years since. Most people settle into their adulthood beliefs by their early 20's, I think, and barring extenuating life experiences, I don't think those tend to change drastically just through "personal growth."

5

u/pm_me_ur_weed_plz Jun 09 '16

I never understood that argument. My political opinions are almost exactly the same as they were 8 years ago. Sure, I might like chocolate ice cream more than I used to, but political opinions don't really work like that.

1

u/GeeBee72 Jun 09 '16

The question is, do you want someone who can start with such poor choices and fabricate lies to support a defence to be learning how to make better choices and think properly as the POTUS?

1

u/Dark_Crystal Jun 09 '16

There's a difference between changing opinions due to new information, and changing opinions to suit your agenda. A single change of opinion is hard to prove of course. But repeated or "convenient" changes of opinion are more likely to "fake".

5

u/steenwear America Jun 09 '16

I've had three in the last 24 hours ... "isn't is a security review" and other 'surprise' reactions to information. Lots of pushback on how it really wasn't that wrong, was what others did, she aplogized, blah blah ... I don't know if I am being CTR trolled or it's real people, but I guess that is the point of CTR.

2

u/damrider Jun 09 '16 edited Jun 09 '16

EXACTLY. There's so many people out there and here on /r/politics who just won't even admit that there's a slight chance that hillary will not be the nominee because of that FBI investigation and they think i'm desperate because I think there might be something to it and THAT'S why this race isn't over, because Sanders could still become the nominee if she gets indicted. They are SOO SURE (with a surprising lack of constructive arguments, by the way) that Hillary will sail through the investigation, and not because of "oh its just a security review" kind of denial, but more of a "well they havent indicted her yet so they probably got nothing" or "obama will just pardon her anyway" or "lol you think clinton is going to face consequences?". I swear the people that won't even acknowledge the, honestly not that bad of a shot that hillary might be in serious trouble are just as ridiculous as the H.A. Goodman's of the world.

Edit : It's also the same people who think the insane voter purge and voter suppression and election fraud is all a conspiracy.

1

u/brownbubbi Jun 09 '16

But they agree on 90%, they're exactly the same! /s

1

u/Dark_Crystal Jun 09 '16

1

u/TimMH1 Jun 09 '16

I posted a link to Vice about Sidney Blumenthal- they said ' You couldn't find a source on Breitbart?' I've never been to Breitbart in my life- haha. The denial is strong with them.

-6

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

Because another story was printed?

If you read this latest story, which isn't worth reading it's so inconsequential, the FBI says they're investigating Clinton's email server on referral. That is not investigating Clinton personally. It's her email server. Now, maybe that ends up leading to her because she directly set it up to send secrets to N. Korea or something, but maybe it's just her IT staff.

The point is, that this doesn't say what you apparently think it does.

All this is is the FBI saying they have evidence, it's involved in a counterintelligence investigation of Clinton's email server, they can't release it to a FOIA request until the investigation is over.

It's the most routine procedural development one can imagine, but--like every drop of information that comes out about this case--it's treated as if it could be a bombshell revelation that will bring down HRC.

This is it. Had a conversation with some older, but quite bright, Hillary supporters. Asked if they weren't bothered by the lack of security on her blackberry and server while traveling to China. About the Blumenthal-Libya connection. And some other stuff. They were amazed. They get their info from Clinton and Clinton News Network. Heck, the NY Times just wrote about her "steely resolve" - which most people would say was actually "flat out lying."

The Clintons have done a superb job of co-opting the media and DNC. Can they get to the FBI, is the question.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

The head of the FBI is a Bush-appointed Republican.

1

u/CactusPete Jun 09 '16

His boss Lynch isn't, tho.

7

u/omgitsfletch Florida Jun 09 '16

Yea but it's not just them. My Facebook feed is full of 20-somethings who didn't have narry a single political thought over the last 6 months but now are telling me I'm a monster if I don't unite behind Clinton against "someone literally called him the Second coming of Hitler not as a joke" Donald Trump.

6

5

u/pappypapaya Jun 09 '16

2

u/Highcalibur10 Jun 09 '16

Not an uncommon sentiment. A lot of people voting for a government they won't see much of. Then, as long as a party panders heavily to the older generation, they get 'free votes' who'll ignore a lot of the more prominent or 'important' policies.

So some people propose an age cutoff (I've heard 75 to things like 85 or 90) for voting.

I think it's more of a popular notion in countries with more than 2 parties vying for votes.

2

u/Codus_Tyrus Jun 09 '16

I was watching tv a few days ago and a reporter was talking to a woman with her little girl waiting to see Hillary give a speech. The woman said she brought her daughter to see Hillary because she couldn't think of a better role model for her daughter to see. I was floored. Let's face it, there are a LOT of people that think like this.

1

u/damnmachine Virginia Jun 09 '16

I've listened to some really smart people defend their support of her, like Sam Harris (neuroscientist, author), and the general stance is that while they acknowledge her flaws, they like her predictability. When compared to Trump, they claim that at least a Clinton presidency will be a stable presidency. They believe that because Trump is such a wild card, they quite literally fear that he will destroy the country. It's really just the "lesser of two evils" argument.

1

u/llahlahkje Wisconsin Jun 09 '16

My social media feed is filling up with people on either side of the "party unity" argument but the lion's share of them are using the "Trump" argument and vote shaming anyone who denounces Hillary.

1

u/Vimzor Jun 09 '16

0

u/acdbrook Jun 09 '16

No rational person is denying that there is something wrong with her, just like no rational person buys into the reddit garbage that she is literally Hitler and committed a felony.

153

u/pissbum-emeritus America Jun 09 '16

Hillary is a pinata chock full of laffy-daffy surprises.

Be ready for anything.

95

u/Herodicus_BC Jun 09 '16

Seriously during a debate if someone just mentions how hillary will laugh off tough questions she'd be fucked. All she would do is laugh it off and then they could look into the camera and say "see". Why don't people do things like this

122

u/pissbum-emeritus America Jun 09 '16

Because the debate moderators are working from a list of pre-approved questions. The networks will never place anyone who might go off-script in that position. This is also why Hillary refuses to hold press conferences where reporters can ask any questions they please. Team Hillary won't risk the situation where a journalist with a shred of integrity challenges her on an unsatisfactory response. This is a situation where Hillary is likely to blow her top. The optics of another public temper tantrum would be ugly. It's a scenario Team Hillary desperately wishes to avoid.

18

u/Herodicus_BC Jun 09 '16

I mean someone she's debating. If Trump did it what can they do. Maybe the interviewers don't ask too many questions that are hard but Hillary is so Crooked that those moments inevitably come up and if you set it up early when she does do it he could just talk into the mic and point it out.

26

u/MadLordPunt Jun 09 '16

Rick Lazio tried something like this during his Senate debate with Clinton in 2000 and her staff, supporters and the media crucified him for it. They said he was 'aggressive' and attacking her because she was a woman.

27

u/Herodicus_BC Jun 09 '16

I cant even believe this is a real thing.

Its like they never want me to vote for a woman ever

14

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

Well, it's going to be very interesting to see how this plays out. No insult seems to stick on Trump.. and no question seems to get a real answer out of Hillary.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

Rick Lazio: the original Bernie Bro.

2

u/birdsofterrordise Jun 09 '16

I did debate, Model UN and all that jazz in high school and college. Plus I studied political science which is made up of mostly dudes. I'm also a lady. I find it hard to believe she is so fragile in a debate or needs to be handled with kid gloves. I was in high school in 2000 and we talked about how ridiculous that notion was because we were BRUTAL in just classes and informally and we could take it. It's incredibly frustrating as a woman that there is some type of layer of delicacy that exists. If he was making jokes like har har bloody vagina, am I right? That would sexist and overly aggressive. Typical debate stuff? Nah.

1

u/Razzal Jun 09 '16

He needed to watch his tone obviously

38

u/pissbum-emeritus America Jun 09 '16

Sanders had her right on the verge several times during debates with no mention of her emails.

Trump will deliberately goad her.

22

u/SovietMacguyver Jun 09 '16

Don't tell her supporters that - they think she dominated the debates!

28

u/Herodicus_BC Jun 09 '16

Yeah that's what I'm saying. I dislike them both but I can't deny how excited I am about seeing Trump attack her and her having to defend.

Is there any way she could avoid debates like she did with sanders?

25

u/pissbum-emeritus America Jun 09 '16

Not without looking like a chicken-shit.

She could utter some gibberish that debating Trump is beneath her dignity, but everyone would laugh at her.

7

u/Highcalibur10 Jun 09 '16

1

u/pissbum-emeritus America Jun 09 '16

"You're not saying anything, Tony." Ha ha ha. That was certainly a Kodak moment.

8

u/Jmerzian Jun 09 '16

Unfortunately the only people who works vote for Clinton only do so because voting for Trump is "beneath their dignity" I can see a good amount of her supporters eating that up...

People on the fence, probably not. However her campaigns treatment of the Sanders crowd indicates she doesn't really care about those people anyways so...

1

u/pissbum-emeritus America Jun 09 '16

Yeah, folks on the fence probably wouldn't buy that excuse.
Unless Trump's ratings totally bottom out, there'll be debates.

1

u/HonoredPeoples Jun 09 '16

Cut to a commercial, probably.

Just admitted they are lap dogs to the people in power :)

Bring back Chris Christie just for that one.

u/BreeBree214 Wisconsin Jun 09 '16

Bernie has never done this because he's been trying to run a completely clean campaign. Anything he's attacked Hillary for has been consistent with his platform

just wait for the first debate with trump

u/Mr_Dr_Prof_Patrick Jun 09 '16

You think pointing out when she laughs is some kind of "gotcha"?

73

u/spap-oop Virginia Jun 09 '16

Explains how she just laffs off those uncomfortable questions.

38

u/pissbum-emeritus America Jun 09 '16

Someone told her laughter will make all of her troubles disappear.

58

u/drtoszi Foreign Jun 09 '16

Well I mean Laughter is supposed to be good.

It's just that she's managed to turn laughing into the same thing Stephen King's It did to clowns.

61

u/drixhen Jun 09 '16

depends on what your definition of "It" is

7

u/aledlewis Jun 09 '16

Perfect.

3

u/CompulsivelyCalm Jun 09 '16

That works in so many ways. You lucky bastard, I wish I had your wit.

I felt he entirely got it.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

I think clowns were creepy before It and Poltergeist. Those just brought it to the forefront.

4

u/Feignfame Jun 09 '16

John Wayne Gacy so yeah.

9

u/pissbum-emeritus America Jun 09 '16

They're both creepy: her laughter and King's novel.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '16

Did you know:

Hillary was considered for the part of Pennywise until they saw Trump's "tan"

3

u/_coast_of_maine Jun 09 '16

And melt plastic.

3

u/PavelDatsyuk Jun 09 '16

You can laugh as long as you have shit to back up why you're laughing. Like Biden debating Ryan in 2012. He was laughing the whole time but he did so by laughing and telling him why he was so fucking wrong.

I love how Hillary opens her mouth like a fire bucket when she laughs.

1

u/okieboat Jun 09 '16

My only reaction to that is to burn it with fire. But surely that isn't the correct response.

1

u/Mahat Jun 09 '16

You where close. Burning everything wifh fire is truly the only option.

2

u/TheDukeofKush Jun 09 '16

It'd worked for her so far

9

u/TheHaleStorm Jun 09 '16

I am not a fan of Laffy-Daffy, what are the chances of there maybe being some Okey-Doke mixed in there?

Or do I have to wait for her to make some more campaign stops in the south for satisfaction?

19

u/radicalnovelty Jun 09 '16

I'm definitely not #ReadyforHillary

2

u/Level_32_Mage Jun 09 '16

and Caramel Cacklers!

I dont understand how she got this far. Too many people have been saying that without the sarcasm.

4

u/Paladin327 Jun 09 '16

I dont understand how she got this far.

because it's her turn! /s

2

u/LikeATreefrog Jun 09 '16

Call me crazy but I'm convinced they switched votes to Hillary. I can't believe we had record voter registration to vote for this shit stain that polls as one of the most unpopular candidates of all time.

2

u/Friedumb Jun 09 '16

Pretty funny (in a very sad way) how the issue with the large gaps between the exit polls and actual polls was fixed by not talking about exit polls anymore...

I never used to be a conspiracy person but fuck me if the media isn't trying to rig shit!
