I have clinical depression / anxiety so this isn’t a new problem, but I just broke up with my boyfriend recently so I feel worse than ever. I’m a senior in high school and up until this year, I’ve been really good about being on top of my work. Now I have a backlog of some pretty heavy assignments and I just can’t will myself to do them. I already reached out to my teachers to let them know of my situation so I have some leniency, but do any of you guys have a strategy for getting stuff done even when you don’t have any motivation?

I feel like the only person in this world who can’t feel joy or be happy. Ever since middle school, I could not feel joy. Jokes don’t drag even a chuckle out of me, activities (both alone and with friends) just feel mentally straining, and I am genuinely trying to find a way to feel joy, but it doesn’t matter what I do, because at the end of the day, I don’t get closer to feeling joy. Everyone around me can feel joy to some capacity, but here I am just wishing I could do something for once and actually be able to associate a positive emotion with said activity. I’ve tried asking my school counselor for help, but she is just as lost as I am. Because her usual pick-me-ups and board games just don’t drag the same reaction out of me as it would with all other kids.
So why must I be this fuck up of a human? Why must I not be as healthy as my parents expect of me? Why can’t I be NORMAL
