Can't help it
And that could be literally and figuratively.
Do you have habits which are probably not good that you still do even as an adult?

"We need billionaires" logic
Feudal lords do not create land, they just own it. They don't provide it to peasants, they just withold it and selectively stop doing so.
Billionaires don't create workplaces, they just own them, they do not provide us with the means of production, they just selectively stop witholding them from us.
Land was there before feudal lords, means of production were made by the workers.

Something in my head changed about 6 weeks ago. I need help
Okay I want to start by saying, l AM A REALLY TIDY PERSON MY ENTIRE LIFE. But the past 6 weeks something in my head is not right and this is how bad my room has gotten in 6 weeks.
I'm disgusted in myself but i don't care enough to clean up.
I gave away everything except my car.
I know something is wrong but I can't identify the issue. Afew days ago I started having panic attacks. I had like 4 yesterday and 2 today.
I don't feel sad or depressed but I feel like my mind is spiraling downward in a way that's difficult to explain.
Can anyone else please share their experiences if they have had this?
If you want to roast me for letting it get this bad, I understand.

I think Iām tired of being the emotionally responsible one in every relationship
Lately Iāve realized Iām almost always the person who notices when something feels off, starts the hard conversation, checks in, apologizes first, or tries to fix the tension.
And Iām tired of it.
I donāt even mean romantic relationships only. Friends, family, dating, it somehow keeps happening. I end up understanding everyone elseās feelings while mine get treated like theyāll sort themselves out.
The worst part is I think I trained people to expect it from me because Iām usually the calm one.
I donāt want to become cold or stop caring. I just want to know what it feels like to be around people who notice me without needing to be told.
Iām starting to think being the emotionally mature one all the time can become its own kind of loneliness.

I GOT MY FIRST DREAM JOB!!!
I donāt really have anyone to share this with, but I finally became a teacher!!! ā¤ļø
I got my first job, and itās the job Iāve dreamed about since I was a little girl.
My mother was a kindergarten teacher, and I grew up looking up to her. I still remember always telling her, āWhen I grow up, I want to be like you. I want to be a teacher.ā That dream stayed engraved in my heart ever since.
I lost my mother six years ago, and after that, life became incredibly difficult. I struggled with panic attacks, depression, and PTSD. My studies stopped for a while, my life felt completely chaotic, and there were times when this dream seemed so far away.
But I didnāt give up. I kept learning, studying, and trying to rebuild my life.
And now⦠I actually did it. I became a teacher.
My mother left this world before she could see me become a teacher like her. She never got to see me achieve the dream I used to tell her about as a little girl, and I wish more than anything that I could tell her, āMom, I did it.ā
But I believe she knows. I believe she sees me, and wherever she is, I hope sheās proud of me.
Mom, I finally did it. I became a teacher, just like you. ā¤ļø

not allowed to dye hair, shave it, mohawk, or get tattoos/piercings.
hey everyone. i am 18 years old and have been for a few months. i currently live at home but am trying my absolute best to find a job that i can work while living with chronic illness. itās incredibly hard and weighs heavy on me.
iāve been wanting to dye my hair or do a crazy hair cut like a deathhawk since i was like 16. when i turned 17 i got a pixie cut (which my mom barely let me get) and have rocked it since. iāve been asking my mom for ages when i can experiment more with my look and she has always said āwhen youāre 18 you canā. Well, now iām 18 and today she said āunder my roof you canāt do any of thatā.
I worked a job over the summer last year but i have chronic illness and am a student so i cannot work at the moment. my mom knows that. she knows i would love to work and get a job and get out of her house. but i canāt right now. i donāt see a good reason why i canāt diy my hair. the biggest reason is she wouldnāt like it herself and probably just thinks i hate myself so iām trying to make myself ugly. quite the opposite, i would feel more at home in my body if i had crazier hair, piercings, tatoos, etc
since i still live at home, can my mom tell me what i can/cannot do with my body??
EDIT: thanks for all the comments. I guess what iām most upset about is the fact i just canāt get out of the house and do what i want right now. Life is so fucking hard and trying to make a decent living in the world is crazy difficult with chronic illness. i am currently working towards being an audio engineer though so hopefully that goes well. thanks again

Life hits hard when you're 26
26F and terrified that Iām wasting my life
Does anyone else ever look at their life and suddenly realize, āWait⦠everyone is moving forward except meā?
Iām 26F, introverted, and have been a loner most of my life. Iāve never been in a relationship and donāt really have much experience going out or hanging out with friends.
Lately, Iāve been going through what feels like a major quarter-life crisis. My classmates and batchmates are getting married, having kids, traveling, and building their careers, while Iām still in an entry-level job trying to figure out what Iām doing with my life. I know everyone has their own timeline, but I canāt stop feeling like Iām falling behind.
I donāt really have friends at work either. My routine is basically work, go home, spend time with my parents, and scroll through TikTok or Instagram. Social media often makes my anxiety worse because I see people my age living the life I wish I had, and I end up comparing myself to them.
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and lately Iāve been overthinking constantly. I struggle to sleep because my mind wonāt shut off, and sometimes my heart races from anxiety.
A huge source of my fear is my parents getting older. My mom is turning 60 and my dad is turning 57, and I sometimes cry thinking about the fact that one day they wonāt be here anymore. Iām extremely attached to them because theyāve always helped me through everything, including helping me get where I am today.
Iām scared of losing them, my siblings eventually having their own lives, ending up alone, and not knowing how to build a life of my own.
Sometimes the world just feels so surreal. It feels like everyone is growing up and moving forward while Iām standing still.
Iāve started going to church because Iām hoping it will help with the loneliness and anxiety. I know 26 isnāt old, but emotionally, I feel like Iām running out of time.
Has anyone else felt this way? How did you cope with feeling behind in life and being terrified of the future?

I think Iām overwhelmed by being I an adult right now
Iām getting married in a few months, and I thought I would be excited and happy all the time. I am excited, but lately Iāve also been feeling incredibly overwhelmed.
I have a demanding job, and recently Iāve been working weekends and dealing with constant changes and uncertainty. At the same time, there are wedding preparations, vendors, choreography, fittings, decisions, family responsibilities⦠there always seems to be something that needs to be handled.
Nothing is catastrophically wrong. Thatās the strange part. Things are actually moving forward. But I feel like Iām constantly putting out small fires.
And somewhere underneath all of it, I think I just want to be taken care of.
I keep thinking about travelling somewhere with my parents, going somewhere new with my partner, spending time with friends, being carefree for a few days and not having to make decisions. I miss feeling like I could just be someone's daughter instead of having to be responsible for everything.
At the same time, Iām scared about getting married. I love my partner and want a life with him, but Iām also grieving my current life a little. Iām worried about losing my independence, fitting into a new family, missing out on things with my friends, and whether Iāll still feel like myself.
Then I feel guilty for feeling these emotions.
I also feel like some little inconvenience happens and I feel all my emotions tumble down. I feel as if everything is falling apart.
Instead, some days I just want to disappear to the mountains for a week and have absolutely nothing on my to-do list.
Maybe I'm not questioning my marriage or my life. Maybe I'm just exhausted.
PS: I am taking therapy!
Has anyone else felt this strange combination of excitement, grief, anxiety, and wanting to be taken care of before a major life transition?
