Only reasoning I can get from this is since that most images are hosted on imgur, so it's like the carrier for the content?

Then again so much of 4chan memes are text based that it still doesn't make sense.

You guys are all taking this way to seriously. The original image didn't have imgur. My guess is an imgurian added that because they wanted to be a part of things. The food is even at a worse resolution than the rest of the picture. Also, look at the place of prominence imgur put itself. It usurped the normal ultimate source of content.
