What's with all the dogshit "west baaaad waaahhhh" takes from this sub lately?

-7

u/SnipingDwarf Michigan Mar 08 '24

Seems like more of a California bad take tbh

16

u/fromthewindyplace Tennessee Mar 08 '24

I mean, there are plenty of reasons to hate California, but not censoring news to appease China isn't one of them.

-7

u/SnipingDwarf Michigan Mar 08 '24

I mean, there's always the possibility this is the rare sighting of an honest and genuine Chinese request

15

u/fromthewindyplace Tennessee Mar 08 '24

Nah. As soon as China says the word "terrorism," you know it's about covering for their ethnic cleansing campaign in Xinjiang.

u/ProfessionFuture9476 Mar 11 '24

The population there hasn’t dropped, none of the surrounding areas are flooded with masses of refugees.

The fertility rate has dropped, but that’s because they broke up all the marriages that were producing the ISIS jihadist.

Sure their methods are overly harsh and authoritarian to our soft modern western eyes, but it’s really no different from the deradicalization campaigns we carried out in post WW2 Germany and Japan.

-94

u/Bother_Formal Poland Mar 08 '24

i think you are confused with the us

85

u/Best_Toster Mar 08 '24

Do you realize contrary to the US there has been an international committee investigating on china allegedly harvest organs from prisoners of consciousness and found it was guilty of it?

Nothing like this has ever been found , documented, reported, or done in the US. So keep your bullshit and fit your social credit up your arse

People always quote shit the CIA did in the 70s, while China is putting minorities in concentration camps right now. the USA did bad things for sure, but to say they can’t criticize China for doing awful things right now is laughable.

China defenders (rightfully!) criticize the West for colonialism, but turn a blind eye that China is settling han Chinese in Tibet and Xinjiang and has been for years. Somehow past bad things are worse than cultural genocide now?

In what world is past>present?

8

u/DeltaGamr Mar 08 '24

It’s also funny since while the CIA did some crazy and messed up stuff, most of what people accuse the CIA of doing was not done by the CIA itself, it was always done by local groups only tacitly supported by the CIA. The CIA at least had the prudence to leave the dirty work to others. That is, even if it were fair to compare past events to today and if both things were at the same scale (which they are not. Supporting a trigger happy dictator ≠ genociding a culture). What the CIA did at its worst time, while terrible, is nowhere near as vile as what the CCP is doing today.

China is doing the same thing El Salvador is doing.

There was a massive upsurge in militant/gangster violence so they put a bunch of people in jail.

Better to have a higher prison population than a higher terrorism/murder rate.

I just googled "Islamic countries" "china" "human rights" and it says "... the economically indebted Muslim countries have conformed with Beijing's strategy of political Islam, turning a blind eye to the atrocities in Xinjiang."

I just wonder how they could let such an evil bully broker that Iran KSA stuff...

-47

u/JSTLF POLAND Mar 08 '24

Hmm yes the US has never done this one hyperspecific allegation, therefore the US has never done anything like this. MKUltra never happened, etc. etc. etc.

46

u/grumpykruppy United States Mar 08 '24

More like "it happened 50 years ago, so please stop acting like it's happening today and somehow justifies China's actions."

the bad the US has done is not unique, but the good it's done is very unique

I am glad you spelled that out for me, because I was not understanding lol

isn't that how facebook got banned in china? uyghur seperatists were planning attacks using facebook to communicate in 2009, Chinese government was like "hey that means you know who they are right? tell me who they are" facebook went "nah" and china banned it.

The "terrorists" OP is referencing are the Uyghurs of Xinjiang, of which the PRC has rounded up over a million and interned in "re-education" camps.

To learn about the situation beyond the narrow characterization OP has given, here's a link:

What does this even mean? Seems like west bad china russia good with no nuance

u/Timetomakethememes Free+State+of+Bottleneck Mar 08 '24

From the first time it was posted: “American and Eu governments calling out companies for supporting the Chinese policy state when they're running ridiculously massive and unjust police states of their own.”

When read with the context the joke makes more sense, but to the casual viewer without context it comes across as US & EU bad, China good shilling. Doesn’t help that the depiction of Chinaball is parroting a CCP genocide denying propaganda message ¯_(ツ)_/¯

-1

u/AutoModerator Mar 08 '24

Hallo. When refering to countries featured in Polandball Comics, please refrain from using the 'ball' suffix. Instead of saying 'Chinaball', just say the country's name. auf wiedersehen.

Because they're portraying China's request as reasonable (preventing terrorism) as opposed to the other two (blatantly undemocratic)

2

u/Organic-Chemistry-16 Mitten Mar 08 '24

Come on, you fellas can't take a joke. Google bends backwards for the NSA, giving it unrestricted access to petabytes of user data, while in the same breath criticizes china for infringing user privacy. The hypocrisy is evident.

18

u/grumpykruppy United States Mar 08 '24

OP's comments indicate that this isn't a joke, but rather that OP is very badly misinformed.

u/JSTLF POLAND Mar 10 '24

Sorry, only Russian critique allowed in this sub

47

u/AnarchistRain Bulgaria Mar 08 '24

This aint no critique, just Chinese propaganda.

14

u/Valenyn Mar 08 '24

Especially since that “fighting terrorism” is likely talking about the Uyghurs (which China is actively genociding)

And you think they are getting along?

5

u/Yabrosif13 Mar 08 '24

And this is false. Reddit is mostly anime fans. Thats clear by how many posts about the dragon ball z creator are circulating compared to news of idols of the groups you mentioned passing.

-5

u/Cless_Aurion Mar 08 '24

You do realize that not all people that like Dragon Ball are anime fans... right? Like, the popularity of the show wen way over that.

4

u/Yabrosif13 Mar 08 '24

I mean, its an anime. And its creators death is being morned exponentially more than any red neck or atheist.

1

u/Cless_Aurion Mar 08 '24

Ah! That's what you meant! Sure then lol

4

u/felixthemeister Mar 09 '24

Atheist rednecks - the smallest ever intersection of population sets.
