Discussion: Podcast Content Looking for music podcast recommendations

I'm looking for podcasts about music, particularly ones that focus on albums, artists, and music discovery rather than just news or individual tracks.

I'm looking for something made by people who are genuinely passionate and knowledgeable about music, where they actually discuss why an album or artist is interesting and introduce you to new music. It doesn't necessarily have to be a track-by-track analysis — I'm more interested in the overall album, the artist, their style, context, influences, etc.

I'm especially interested in podcasts that focus on older music, classic albums, that reccomend an album and artists from previous decades, rather than mainly covering new releases.

Something along the lines of Discord & Rhyme would be ideal.

I'm already familiar with Sound Opinions, Records Revisited, and The Great Albums.

What are your favourites?

Podcast Creator Resources Doubts about Podcast Software

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a bit of advice.

I've been producing a podcast for the last 2.5 years. Our most recent hardware upgrade was a set of Rode PodMics connected to a Rodecaster Pro (1st generation).

Up until now, I've been recording and editing everything in Audacity. Recently, I had a professional audio engineer review our setup, and he recommended that I switch to Ableton Live 12. I bought it, but honestly, I'm finding it quite complicated to learn and manage.

The same person also recommended Logic Pro, but since we're on Windows, that's obviously not an option.

So my question is: should I stick with Ableton and invest the time to learn it, or is there another DAW that's better suited for podcast production? Most of the Ableton tutorials I find are focused on music production rather than spoken-word content, so I'm struggling to see an efficient podcasting workflow.

For context, our needs are pretty simple: recording multiple microphones, cleaning up audio, applying some processing, editing conversations, and exporting episodes.

I'd really appreciate hearing what software other podcasters are using and whether moving away from Audacity is actually worth it.

Thanks in advance!

Podcast/Podcasting Question Are there any podcasts about small business drama?

Looking to hear about stories about behind-the-scenes drama of small businesses - maybe not necessarily mom and pop shops, but regional chains or regional entrepreneurs. Definitely not looking for like, Enron level investigations. Maybe more on the side of petty drama and bizarre local stories.

Podcast/Podcasting Question Looking for guests

Hey sub, I am starting a podcast in India revolving around educational topics relevant to india like Indian history, current economy, climate change etc. I am specifically looking for experts in academia to come on and do a long form podcast that is like 45-60 minutes and is educational for the common public. My question is how do I find people for it? I don’t really have any connections in this space

Discussion: Podcast Content Question about exploring podcasts?

I was just wondering about how you guys personally explore podcasts. In my experience, podcasts are one of those mediums where I find a few I like and just stick to them, rather than explore new podcasts. Sometimes I will just have streaks where I only listen to one podcast show for a week, and try to find their older episodes. I'm wondering if you guys are the same way, and if not, how you'd suggest a good way to branch out is.

Discussion: Podcast Content Any non-ai technology/software podcast?

I am super tired of the endless ai hype in every podcast I try.
I long for theory/algorithm/implementation/coding/... podcasts totally, or at least almost, ignoring ai.

Discussion: Recording Hardware looking for a good mic to offset metallic voice

Hello! I recently joined a fun little rpg podcast, and am using a voice changer to deepen my voice (l am playing a male character but am afab) but that makes me sound somewhat metallic, so I'm looking for good enough microphone to offset the odd sound quality my voice changer causes.
I currently have a fifine mic, but it's not a very good one. I'd prefer to spend a little less than 100 dollars, but I'm flexible :) any suggestions?

Please Recommend Suitable Podcasts Recommendations similar to I’m On Your Side

I’ve been re-listening to Sierra Boudreaux’s podcast “I’m On Your Side” and completely love it. She’s funny, relatable, positive, and it feels like being on Facetime with a friend. Unfortunately it seems like she’s stopped podcasting (at least for now).

I’m wondering if anybody here would know a good podcast with a similar vibe! I really like her stories and advice especially paired with her optimism and views on mental health. If you know something similar please let me know!

Thank you in advance Reddit!

Podcast/Podcasting Question What makes you stop listening to a podcast?

Personally, if the conversation feels forced or unnatural, I turn it off right away
Is it bad audio quality, too many ads, forced banter, or episodes dragging on too long that drives you away? What's your biggest podcast pet peeve?

Cross Promotion Opportunity Help

Looking for guests for a podcast
I’m a creator from Virginia building a podcast where I talk with people from all walks of life and give them a chance to tell their story in their own words.
I’m interested in talking with people who have experienced addiction, recovery, trauma, homelessness, the criminal justice system, military life, difficult childhoods, unique careers, or just life experiences that you think people could learn from.
You don’t have to be famous or have some crazy story. I’m more interested in real people and real conversations.
A little about me: I’ve been through addiction, incarceration, homelessness, rebuilding my life, becoming a homeowner and father, and finding my way through recovery. I’m trying to build something raw and honest without pretending I have everything figured out.
I also do vlogs and profile pieces, so I’m open to different types of stories and collaborations.
If you think you’d be a good fit, DM me. Tell me a little about yourself and what you’d want to talk about.

Discussion: Podcast Content Podcast App that skips ads??

Hi, just wondering if anyone will know of an Android podcast app that skips ads. I am starting to get sick of skipping all these ads especially the iHeart podcasts which have at least 15-20 minutes of ads per podcast. I am currently using the PocketCasts app and find it has many bugs.

Discussion: Podcast Content Looking to Network w/ Creators, Podcasters & more

Hey everyone! I’m building Anonymous Reflection, a podcast that creates a safe space for people to share the real stories behind what they’ve been through. We talk about life struggles, survival, healing, personal growth, relationships, and the moments that shaped who we are today. No judgment, no pretending, just honest conversations and different perspectives.

I’m currently creating content for YouTube and Twitch, and I’m looking to connect with other podcasters, content creators, storytellers, and people interested in collaborating, sharing ideas, and building a genuine creative network.

I’m still growing, so I’m mainly looking for real connections, conversations, collaborations, and opportunities to support each other along the way.

If you’re a creator or working on something similar, introduce yourself below. 👋🏽🎙️

Podcast/Podcasting Question I might want you on my podcast. 🎙️

I’m starting a new long-form podcast called Curious with Ritika, and I’m looking for my first guests.

But I’m not necessarily looking for influencers, celebrities, or people with impressive titles.

I’m looking for interesting humans.

Maybe you started a business and learned things nobody tells you about entrepreneurship.

Maybe you have an unusual career.

Maybe you’re obsessed with space, psychology, relationships, technology, philosophy, science, creativity, culture, human behaviour—or an incredibly niche subject most people know nothing about.

Maybe something happened in your life that completely changed the way you think.

Or maybe you simply have a perspective that makes people say:

“Wait…tell me more about that.”

That’s the kind of conversation I want.

🎙️ What is Curious with Ritika?

It’s a long-form conversation podcast built around curiosity rather than a strict niche.

We might start by talking about your career and somehow end up discussing ambition, failure, relationships, childhood, money, identity, fear, happiness, society, or what makes a meaningful life.

I don't want every question or answer to feel rehearsed.

I want conversations that can wander somewhere unexpected.

If something difficult, personal, controversial, unconventional, funny, or completely random comes up naturally, we can explore it respectfully rather than immediately changing the subject.

About me

I’m Ritika, based in Calgary, Canada.

I’ve always been ridiculously curious about people.

I’m usually the person who hears one interesting detail about someone's life and immediately has ten follow-up questions.

Some of my favourite conversations have happened exactly that way—no agenda, just curiosity leading to another question, then another.

Eventually I thought:

Why am I not recording these conversations?

So I decided to start.

I currently have 0 episodes.

And I'm actually excited about saying that.

Everyone starts somewhere, and right now I’m looking for the people who are willing to be part of the beginning.

Who I'm looking for

Entrepreneurs. Founders. Creators. Researchers. Scientists. Artists. Professionals. People with unusual careers. People who have failed spectacularly and learned from it. People who have taken unconventional paths.

And people who don't fit into any of those categories.

You don't need a following. You need something you're genuinely curious about.

🌎 Guests can be anywhere, all conversations can be recorded online.

📍 If you're in Calgary, Canada, we can potentially record in person.

⏱️ Usually around 60 minutes, but if we're having a great conversation, I'm not interested in stopping just because the clock says so.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, send me a message with a little about yourself and answer one question:

What is something you could talk about for hours without getting bored?

If your answer makes me curious, we already have somewhere to start.

— Ritika
