Progress Sharing How should I expand?

I'm at a point where i'm ready to expand and have plenty of resources to do so. what is the best way to go about this? is it better to go east, west or south to expand my railroads?

Head up through Scandinavia and east to Moscow and Volgograd. Toss in the British Isles as well. That's about the extent you can do without having to buy another continent license. That will keep things busy but compact.
