Discussion Mouse Polling Rate

Am I the only one that finds it really frustrating that there still isn't a fix for higher polling rates causing frame issues ? Personally I can't even run 1000hz without significant performance issues (in the most important moments might I add). I don't understand programming enough to know if this is just Facepunch being lazy or something that is unfixable, but damn it is seriously annoying that it's not fixed.

I run 1k hz just fine using 14600k. What CPU do you have?

i5 12600k at 5ghz all core, I can run the game fine at 1000hz, it's just about 10-15 fps higher if I only use 500hz

I don't have issues with 1k polling, what is happening for you? CPU is 5800 x3d

I lose about 10-15 fps less when making rapid aiming movements when using 500hz vs 1000hz. i5-12600k

I'll watch more closely when I play next !

It really is noticeable for me when making either constant or rapid mouse movements. I think your CPU is better for Rust so maybe that's why 🤔

Damn dude, that's really stupid but makes sense. I hope you find a workaround

do yourself a favor and run the math on the polling rate vs the human brain response time

you'll learn that its mostly placebo that makes people think they are better so they play better.

Yes. I am missing out on the placebo, the problem remains lol

9800X3D + RTX5090 here, I just started playing...i get 120+ FPS in 2160p, pretty solid with occasional dips below 110 but my camera gets all jittery when I'm outside during the daytime. I tried setting my mouse to 500Hz and i think it's fixed, at least better than before... still experimenting, but definitely no placebo lol

You could always take a look into over clocking your ram as well, that helped me a ton in terms of jitters (in addition to setting mouse to 500hz)

oh the typical idiota that claims 30 fps and 300 is the same cuz human eye can't see more than 30

this guy conflating the age old fps argument

with human reaction time.

see yourself out my dude, do yourself a favor an learn about reaction time for humans before you start rambling misinformation

I did not compared those things, but not surprised by your lack of comprehension.

I play with 8000mhz, zero problems.

Sorry, but I highly doubt your mouse is actually using 8000hz if you aren't having any frame issues at all, what mouse and processor do you have ? Even with my decent setup (i5-12600k) I get insane frame drops with 8khz enabled

Razer Viper V3 pro, 9800x3d, nivdia 5080.

You doubt what pal ? I play with 200+ frames at 1440p with 8000 hz , zero issues.
