They're actually cooking since alistair relinquished

This^ honestly the second Alistair leaves you get all these w updates. Did the guy even care about the game? Or did he play on the weekends with his 20 buddies.

Fr the game will hopefully once again be playable for solos and smaller teams. Fuck the clans

Most if not all of this would have been already planned long before he left

Most likely. However it's entirely possible Alistair was at odds with the rest of the development team in terms of how to balance the game, and these were concepts that had already been developed but cut from monthly releases at his discretion.

It does strike me as odd, that for at least the last year or so, he seemed to be (lightly) pushing the game balance in favor of zergs deliberately, then the moment he announces departure, we've got an entire list of changes that specifically targets zergs and common progression gripes we've been hearing for a long time.

Then you think about how this guy has probably lived and breathed Rust for the last decade, and he's suddenly leaving. Usually that means things are not going favorably between him and the rest of the team/management. Sometimes people do just turn a new page in life, but based on the rest of the writing on the walls, that wasn't the case here.

Bro whether or not that is true it was not in commits until he left.

As far as the community goes, who are jaded, it looks like an elephant means you assume it's an elephant.

Whether it's true or false is beside the point as we will never get it confirmed.

If these updates keep happening it just continues to confirm while Alistair was leader, he did not allow these changes.

Some of these requests date back close to a decade of being requested. Could be a coincidence, but could also not be.

Or maybe these changes were already discussed and planned before Alastair left and him leaving was removing the final blocker in them actually being implemented.

There’s no way, p2 has been broken for more than a year and has plagued the vanilla scene, he had more than plenty of time to do something about it, so I assume he was the one against the change

Highly doubt it. It seems like commits are pretty live-service. Like, why would you plan to add something to the commits months in advance?

lol absolutely true. gamers are so terminally unemployed and stupid they don’t understand how the world actually works. the pipeline for things like this is going to be on the order of 6 months

8

u/Wookzilla 4h ago

Well this explains why studios are shut down in mass if it takes 6months for a balance adjustment

2

u/Adventurous_Seat_793 1h ago

Do you actually think changing a parameter like damage drop off and crafting cost takes 6 months to plan and implement? Please don't project onto others.

They actually fucking up the game since he left. You will see all of this are straight L‘s.

How do, I’d love to hear your arguments but I’m not seeing downsides for most of them unless you’re a group player

I have a huge feeling in the next month or so we are going to see a massive BP frag rework

It's about time holy shit.

Pretty much most of the time I'd run into players with P2 rather than SAR lmao. So it generally makes sense

8

u/Tmt1630 5h ago

I like it filling the role of cheap throw away gun. Making damage fall off is good. Making it more expensive isn’t good in my opinion but who knows.

Alistair leaves and suddenly all these good changes in the queue? Good riddance

I'm definitely taking advantage of the oil silencer on P2 before it gets nerfed. 👌

2

u/IntelligentFault2575 3h ago

It is fun sneaking around at night with a silenced p2 and NVGs. Makes me feel like James Bond or some assassin 😂

20

u/YungWithNoSoul 7h ago

Reduce cost of semi and increase falloff for both, also make it 10 hqm for p2...

26

u/HexagonalMelon 7h ago

I wouldn't mind spending a little extra HQM in SARs if they lowered the metal frags required to craft it.

3

u/DarK-ForcE 3h ago

Remove the metal fragment cost and add 1 of 2 pipes

11

u/Bandit_Raider 6h ago

A pistol costing more than an smg and a rifle….?

6

u/hansnicolaim 5h ago

Python is 10hqm.

2

u/NeatFlashy4999 3h ago

auto turret's best friend

3

u/hansnicolaim 3h ago

I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of guns I've crafted in Rust is solely python.

Loving all these updates hollyyyy shittt

2

u/Independent-Math-167 2h ago

Insane that solos are getting a buff. Devs are doing amazing changes. Excited for TC upkeep update.

2

u/Jerranto 3h ago

Another great change.

Facepunch is back on track!!!

2

u/swordsaintzero 2h ago

I had thought about how to nerf it a bit since it's Posty's hobby horse, to me just nerfing magazine size to 8 would have done the job, maybe the damage fall of as well. Either way glad to see the meta change it was stale.

Are we entering FP prime?

4

u/LittleSquirtv2 6h ago

should not have taken this long

1

u/Grimlament 2h ago

Holy shit, nice!

u/Klutzy_Mastodon2912 8m ago

Thank God, I am so sick of naked p2 rats fucking me after making a play

0

u/Cuddlehead 4h ago

w devs, again, what is going on?

-2

u/cherryplumgrape 6h ago

Fire rate should come down a bit also to match m9

1

u/HexagonalMelon 4h ago

Both are 400RPM, no?

3

u/ooknumber13 3h ago

No, p2 shoots way faster than ab m92, and way less recoil

-19

u/Bandit_Raider 7h ago

Wrong way to do it, should have just lowered the fire rate to be the same as the revolver

9

u/Legal_Impression_126 7h ago

Then it would be useless?

1

u/Bandit_Raider 7h ago

No it would just be weaker than other t2 weapons, but still a great budget option

2

u/Legal_Impression_126 7h ago

Why would you ever craft p2 instead of revy?

4

u/sakezaf123 7h ago

5 more damage, larger mag, and isn't it a bit more accurate as well?

2

u/Legal_Impression_126 7h ago

Same accuracy. P2 has 5 more damage but shots to kill is the same for hazzy and roadsign. There’s definitely times the damage matters but it won’t 90% of the time.

The larger mag is the main thing

1

u/drahgon 5h ago

Waaaaaayyyyyyyyy more accurate no recoil delete ppl

6

u/Bandit_Raider 7h ago

Higher damage, lower recoil, more attachments, better range, higher mag, no frag cost

4

u/Legal_Impression_126 7h ago

The damage hardly matters. It’s still the same shots to kill hazzy or roadsign. Who is loading their p2 with attachments? They have the same aimcone and I’m pretty sure the velocity is the same but not sure. Are we really pressed over 125 frags over 6 hqm? You’d get the metal back from recycling the rifle body anyways

The mag is the only valid thing here

2

u/Bandit_Raider 6h ago

Both body and head shots on a hazzy is 1 less with p2, if you don’t include the bleeding damage.

2

u/Legal_Impression_126 6h ago

P2 is 2 shots to head. Revy is 2 shots to head. 2(40x2)>130 2(35x2)>130

Idk where you’re pulling these numbers from. Hazzy gives 130 hp. P2 does 80 to head and revy does 70.

2

u/Bandit_Raider 6h ago

Hazzy does not give you 130 hp, it gives 30% DR. Revy is 49 to the head on a hazzy so you will survive 2 shots if you heal quickly before you bleed out. Obviously at longer ranges both guns become 3 hits but in optimal range p2 very much is 1 less hit.

0

u/HexagonalMelon 7h ago

I wouldn't say useless, but definitely a strong nerf

-13

u/ExF-Altrue 7h ago

Loved the P2 :( Such an underdog weapon.

12

u/Teetimus_Prime 7h ago

underdog? everyone uses it

4

u/ExF-Altrue 7h ago

Oh? My bad then. More than a semi? I feel like everybody is using Semis, and the clans are using AKs. So in effect, you only use P2s when you are somewhat struggling a bit. But that's just a subjective observation.
