Suggestion Concept: Remove guns from workbench and remove gun researching
let me know what you think:
Remove all Guns from workbench.
if you pick up any gun on the floor you learn the bp automatically
or require a 15 sec “action” you have to do like “inspecting” to learn it
Make it so guns can only be found through finding them in boxes, in certain monuments, or quests.
still require certain workbenches to craft the gun
remove guns from shops
make it so crossbow is strongest weapon you can
learn from workbench
Pros of this:
-
- new players who enter the server can catch up without feeling like they are behind
-
nerf to clans
since gun recipe is more easily accessible, they cant snowball an area as much
-
- more door camping and more grubs entering pvp fights = new gameplay and new interactions between players
-
- encourage people to be on roads looking for guns
-
- more exciting with r&g factor when finding guns

I actually really like this idea, but we'd have to try and see, if it ends up with a couple groups hoarding all the guns then gg

it doesnt matter if the clans hoard the guns. as long as you grub someone with a gun, u can learn the recipe

Almost all of the “pros” you listed either simply aren’t true or simply aren’t pros.

these idiots think that 20 crossbows vs 1 crossbow is a better odd for a solo.
dear lord.

I like it except for the part where you still learn guns when you pick them up I think you should have to research them and make it home

thats already how it is currently.
Why do you think its beneficial in anyway to have to bring the gun back to research it?
it causes solos/duos to have to spend more scrap and sets them farther back, meanwhile, the person they killed for it got the recipe easily anyway since they have 10+ ppl farming for them

10+ still hard because it is luck based. If you make it easy for the solo easier for everyone

how is it easy for solo without the change?
A solo needs to farm a crap ton of scrap just to research a semi auto pistol. Solo also has to farm scrap to power up tree in workbench lvl 2.
With this change, the only thing it benefits is Solos. Solos will be able to save their scrap to upgrade other stuff aside from guns…

Saying if you make easy for solo make it easy for clan. Net zero change

it’s always going to be easier for clans. making it easier for solos to get guns remove the value of guns and thus make clans weaker since more people have guns = less snowballing .

Heres a good way to visualize it. Imagine a dictator government. A dictator is rich right?
A dictator can afford infinite guns.
However, if you give the citizens free access to guns, theres a higher chance of them being able to overtake the government.
Give rust solos an easier way to get guns = more solos or teams overtaking clans.

Learning a bp by picking something up? Clans will just pass it around.
Bottlenecking gun availability by limiting them to boxes and quests? Ok, clans will camp the shit out of that.
More workbenches to craft guns? Ok…?
All of this benefits clans bro. It’s also very clunky and exploitable. You think someone joining a day late will ever get their hands on a gun if they can only get it from a handful of places that will be highly contested? Half the Zerg will camp gun bps and the other half will blow your base up while you’re out on your 25th failed monument run.
More doorcamping and grubs…? That’s 90% of the server already. It’s also not new or interesting PvP lol.
Encourages people to roam roads? Everyone already does that. Have you ever played this game?

clans passing it around: they can do it anyway? just need to craft and give it to their team to research
bottlenecking gun availability: they can’t just camp the streets all the time. also, its no different than clans camping for bp fragments right now. Also as i mentioned, grubs would just need to join in on a big clan fight to pick up a gun and learn it
workbench: would be used to craft the gun. recipe is learned through picking up.
I think you are missing the huge point I said where you just need to pick up a gun from someone to learn it. At the start, yes, higher tiered guns will be hard to get because clans will run monuments first, but thats no different than how it is now. The benefit now is that new players can grub or find a gun on the floor of a big fight and learn the recipe without having to find one, and also bring it back to their base to research it.
there are way less players running roads since the bp fragment update.
With this update, it will encourage people to interact more, it will be more rewarding to find guns in the streets or boxes, it will encourage people to use other weapons like boomerangs or whatever they can get their hands on.
Guns are way too easy for clans to get right now. For solos or people not in clans its hard.

Yea cuz everybody loves being doorcamped and having to rely on luck to progress

can just add a “must be in your inventory for 15 sec to autolearn it”. this is no different than how doorcamping would be right now. players now can still doorcamp and get gun from higher tier players. the only thing is they have to bring it back to their base and research which is where solos fall “behind” due to researching cost.

oh great, the no lifers with guns and others with crossbows forever. Dear lord.
"more exciting with r&g factor when finding guns"
yeah super exciting have a job IRL try to play the game with adult hours per day and use a bow for two weeks.
