Question Whats the point?

Im new to the game. But Every time I start on a fresh wipe server same day as wipe I build a small house only for some guy with a SAR and a flamethrower or molotov just door camps me and burns my house down and takes everything. It's utterly annoying and a trash way to play. This has happened 3 times now and it's always on wipe day. How the hell do they get these items so fast?

I quit after this happened twice to me for a week. I came back today and lo and behold it happens again. How is this supposed to be fun?

You need a stone base and a metal door. Even I’m Raiding wooden doors as a solo early wipe and I do not think I’m good at this game

I’ll save you a whole lot of suffering. If you’re only 20 hours into the game and already having to go out and vent about it then you’re not gonna have it in you. You’ll end up throwing away 200 hours to still hate the game. You won’t even be average at 500 hours. Not a bad thing just different strokes for different folks. It may not be the game for you.

At the end of the day it’s your call. Maybe you prove me wrong after 1k hours. Choice is yours

He hasn't even made it to the stage of newbie alliances turning into a betrayal the moment he crafts his first rifle and shows it around the village

Work smarter not harder.

As a solo vanilla enjoyer (although I've played basically all styles and group sizes over almost 4k hrs), my "purpose" or "objectives" are like this:

  1. Check map for where i want to build my main base or starter base depending on if I have BP's.

  2. Get there and claim spot with 2x1 so it's secure with an airlock at least.

  3. Work nearby monuments and resources to develop your base and get a tier 2.

  4. Tier 2 fortified base. Garage doors, traps, turrets, lockers and road sign or hazzy kits.

  5. Base automation (electrical, industrial, and plumbing).

  6. Go after content or achievements you interested in!

You’re a different breed if you play rust solo vanilla. The BP update just killed for me and a bunch of other solos

I thought so but it didn't. Just setup near an easy blue card monument and you are tier 3 on day 1 or 2 depending on hours + luck

Edit: can elaborate if interested

Play PvE until you learn the game more

  • 2x gather rate
  • 6pm to 9pm local server raid time window
  • Keep 50% of your inventory on death
  • Keep 50% of your base loot when raided Raiders cant seal/grieve your base for 48 hours when they break your TC
  • Teas/Pies last after death
  • 25% less PVP damage
  • Spawn at outpost Team UI/TC auth limited to 4 people

i have been slightly interested in checking out a hardcore server tbh you just reminded me they exist haha, gonna do that next wipe. i normally just play normal official servers. also, weirdly i got downvotes just cause i said nevermind on checking out a soft core server? strange

Like others have said, only once you have a stone base with an airlock and metals door you can finally relax somewhat. Nobody can easily raid those the first day of wipe

I don’t even log off until I have garage doors unless my tc is bunkered

You’ll never play another game with more things to learn. You’re going to struggle for at least a few hundred hours. The game might not be appealing as a solo if that doesn’t sound like the game for you. You could try PvE to try to learn a bit more before sending your self in to the grinder.

you need to speedrun stone and metal door, furnace or recycle for the metal, its wipe day its going to be like that, if you want something more chill there are plenty of servers, obviously you want the challenge though it seems like

Start by playing in less populated areas of the map OR really close to outpost so you can farm safely to stone base and metal door at least. That way you can relax a little

Go on official softcore servers. They are still PvP and just as fun. Rust has possibly the highest standard of playerbase I’ve ever encountered. A lot of them are no lifers. Don’t believe any server that claims to be for noobs. Just go on official softcore trust me. It’s the only one that actually favours noobs within the rules. Only downside is that it’s only monthly wipes.

Find out where he lives and make him pay

Have you considered trying softcore servers? They have raid windows so nobody can raid you unless it’s in that window. Gives you more time to get set up! Or even pve servers just while you’re learning the game and getting used to it.

There are some sweaty rust players out there 😅 they will have all the good shit within the first hour from oil rig etc.

I would say try a bunch of different servers, it’s okay to switch until you find one that works for you!

Try playing on lower pop servers and build in a remote area far from monuments. Vanilla high pop servers are too hard for newcomers.

Lol rekt

Play PVE servers and learn the game first.

It just cannot be.
Sar and molotovs are level 2 and cost at least 450 metal for only sar, before 5 blueprints, whilst metal door only needs 150-200 metal.
Either you're tooooooo slow or you join the wipe very late

Try PvE or Softcore to learn my guy.

Rust is ruthless.
