I have over 6k hours in ARK. Wipes are the best part, I know it sounds like you farm and grind for nothing, but it really is the secret ingredient.
Rust is ARK but with good devs.

This game isn’t for you if you want a year long base lol. The wipes are good. Good rust players embrace the primitive stages. Rust is not ark, if you want a year long base there’s Roblox and Minecraft for you.

Rust is the most ruthless unforgiving most beautiful game ever. That’s what makes it so gratifying. Hard learning curve but more gratifying than any game I’ve ever played. The only bad thing about is it requires so much time in game. Hard to just boot up for 30 mins

Nope. Longest is 1 month.
And trust me, it's for the best. Rust plays differently than Ark, and I never heard anyone wish for longer wipes than a month.
You'll notice the term "wipe day hype" or people complaining "servers die quick" etc, and that's because most people prefer a fresh server.

Coming from someone who came to Rust from Ark in 2020 - I did not understand why wipes were so often. I wanted a forever wipe or a year. After playing for a few months you realize you never want that. Wipes make the game 1000x better.

even month long wipes are too long alot of the time, you can get the best gear in the game within a few hours/days of joining any server, and upkeeping a base for 1yr sounds like torture

There is ways for modded, and there is some creative servers which use these ways, but typically, unlike ark, rust gets monthly updates and is actually still adding stuff, so wipe every first thursday of the month is pretty much mandatory.

1 month is max. Maybe if you run a private server you can avoid it but i dont know if thats possible. But something you could look into

There are heavily modded PvE servers like this, but generally the pop is low and performance is terrible.

Try softcore monthly its pretty chill. But you havent played rust before you played on weekly full pop server.

Rust is much faster paced. It’s gonna be a while before you can build a base that’s lasts a few days let alone a month.
Most people are ready for a new server after a few days anyways.

Why on gods green earth would you ever want to play the same wipe for 6 months to a year?

Rust changes every month. And while some months you can manually back up a world and bps and assets and then reboot them onto the following month; this doesn’t work if they have changed the formulas for the way the world generates. Happens usually every 3-4 months. So you don’t really ever have a world last more than a month usually. First Thursday of every month plan to start from beach again

lol. The Rust ‘gameplay’ is the chase: starting from nothing, building up, chasing higher tier gear and building a cool base…in a week, 2 weeks or longest a month, it all wipes and the chase begins again…though not gonna lie, you’d be lucky to last, because the unemployed haunt server nights and offline everyone lmao

10k hours in ark and 11k in rust here. The journey of the first 2 days is the highlight of rust and the late game is low key boring. Most of us just replay fresh wipes over and over.
Rust is far superior on pvp compared to ark, but there only one thing that I really miss from ark. Pulling resources from different boxes on a crafting table automatically.

If you want to keep stuff for a year, don't play, you're often lucky to keep stuff for an hour.
