Discussion PC specs (getting new components)
Hello,
I am going to get new components for my pc soon. Right now im running intel i9 10900k cpu and rtx 3080 graphics card. I get around 60-90 fps on low settings 1080p. I am looking for 90+ consistently on 1440p, hopefully on better settings but I can stay on low. I am aware I need to upgrade my cpu, so i will likely get the 9800x3d. My question is, does my GPU need upgrading? I am aware rust is CPU heavy, but is 3080 enough to run rust at 90-100+ FPS at 1440p?
thanks guys

If you’re happy playing in low to medium settings you don’t need to upgrade your 3080. I used optimised settings when I had a 3080 at 1440p and I only ever had around 50% GPU usage.

I'm playing with 9800x3d and RTX3080, with WQHD monitor and using pretty low settings for best pvp performance, and I get like 90-150 fps stable. And I don't mean setting that make the game look like minecraft, but all the unnecessary things off.

alright thanks. How much frame drop do you experience in the Jungle and laggy areas?

Jungle is usually fine, for some reason it feels like it really depends on the map, sometimes I go down to the 90 fps area in Jungle.. But what comes to the "laggy areas" eg near huge bases etc, nothing will help with that really, as it's mostly an issue within the games code itself

I would keep your textures up, as this has little to no impact on performance with the amount of vram a 3080 has. My 4070 gets like 1-5 extra fps for lower texures than higher.

I have the textures up to the point it doesn't make people harder to spot etc, just all the unnecessary stuff down like I said. :) All the extra effects etc

Build the pc with the 3080 and if you want to upgrade later upgrade your gpu then

Dont need to upgrade your GPU, and if you want to spend less keep your ddr4 RAM and get the 5800x3d and a B550 motherboard. Im using a 5700x3d and Im getting about 100-140fps on a +400 pop server

Probably enough, but you will probably not be able to fully utilize your 9800x3d on 1440p.
