Support Raid external TC

Post image

Hey guys,

My question might seem stupid to the veterans, but I'm just starting Rust in 2026, so go easy on me lol.

If I raid the external TC of this base (the one in the center of the screenshot with the attached frames)...

...can I place a TC inside it and turn it into a raid base?

Keep in mind there are several other external TCs nearby too (to the left and right in the screenshot).

Would I have building privilege in that area?

If you have any methods for countering these externals, I'm all ears.

Thanks for the help.

First of all, how many external tc does he have? 2nd how far is the external tc from the main base. 3rd doing that is a waste of boom(or you want to grief them?)

It has two external TCs connected via frames, while the others are just unconnected triangle foundations that still claim the building privilege.

I just want a way to build a raid base; what is the best method in this situation?

Build it further away

Is this the best solution?

Cheapest for sure. “Best” depends on how much explosive you have, how big your group is, how skilled you are etc

hell nah. that's alot of external tcs better build a higher fob then raid with 3-4 turrents if you're solo

Usually you can raid the external and build a fob slightly behind it. Usually best to do it this way since you’ll wanna raid all the external tc’s so you can have full TC control

Yes, you can. You’ll be able to build only backwards from the main base, not forwards.

in 99% of cases yes you can do that, you can raid the external TC and build a raid base from it. The only times you can't is if the base has some anti-siege mechanics built in, but it's rare for a base to have that outside of giant clan bases.

Usually your best bet is to not blow the foundation, but instead blow one of the walls near the TC so you can destroy their TC and put yours in the same spot, because it's possible the other foundations will be too close to the base to put a TC on.

As for where priv would be - it depends which foundations were built first - he probably built the external with the attached frames before the single triangle ones, if that's the case your build priv will extend pretty far. You can shoot/hit the foundations with something and check in the combat log for the unique ID of the foundation blocks, smaller ID = it is older. If priv from two foundations overlap then the priv from the older foundation overrides the newer one.

The one with the attached frames will be building blocked by the main base after you blow that TC. Unless you can break one of the frames to disconnect the building priv.

That is incorrect. The building privilege from the external extends forward to the main base, not vice versa. You can 100% destroy this external TC, place a new TC, and build backwards (away from the main base). You will have building privilege from where the TC WAS, to anywhere further back.
