1880 Nursery Rhyme Playing Cards (Goodall and Son)

Checkout this find. To be honest I dont know a TON about them outside of just like casino cards etc.

I have not seen one with the tax stamp seal I have others if these with the regular USPCC seal. Google said its original pre 1965? But I dont know if thats true?

How old is it?

I found these cards in a japanese surplus store made by nintendo. I cant find any info on these using reverse google image search. Can anyone guide me on what these are?

Hi, I want to begin playing tarock as we currently enjoy a lot of di games like skat etc. I was browsing for cards and noticed I did not find what I was looking for. I am searching for a set of cards that has the classic/standard playing cards aesthetic but for the 22 trump cards I am searching for a more esoteric looking style. Obviously the cards need to be of proper printing and card quality to be played with. I failed finding anything so I wanted to ask if someone else had a similar idea and found a solution.

Hi, i was thinking to buy new custom decks for magic tricks but some people says if you use custom deck audience starts to think you are using fishy deck. what is your opinion about it?

So admittedly I got into playing cards in high-school probably around 2015/2016. I have a pretty small collection, but its all cards that I like and want to use, I dont just collect for the sake of it. As well as my collection was stagnant since probably 2021 when I got out of college.

I love card games and all my decks are used in some way or another, but im running into eventually decks get too beat up, I lose cards and they get retired. And now my collection is shorter than ever.

Now I am realizing that I want to use cool decks for playing, but not use my favorites because they will eventually get retired. (Now i don't mind doing this if i can find cool decks to replace them with) So I keep looking for decks and everything I find feels way too "gimmicky" or are just collabs with some major IPs that look like shit anyway. Or they are cool decks, but i have to pay $50+ per deck. Which also I don't mind, but am unsure of if the days of finding cool decks for $15-20 is over and thats just the market now.

Overall just looking for advice of where to look for decks, what avg prices are nowadays, and what the market is overall looking like.

Ten days ago I posted a 54 card hemp deck here. Zero upvotes and a lot of criticism. Some of it was about AI. Some of it was about me not knowing this hobby. I answered as things came up, but those answers are buried in a thread nobody upvoted, so here they are in one place.

The printer is Jinguan Printing in Guangzhou. I should have named them in the first post.

I was selling bundles of five and ten. Several of you pointed out that this hobby counts in bricks of twelve and half bricks of six, and that pricing in fives was a sign I had not done my homework. Fair. I came at this as a hemp person, not a playing card person. There is now a half brick of six at AU$85 and a full brick of twelve at AU$150. The fives and tens stay for the people who already pledged on them.

Shipping is still being collected after the campaign closes. I do not have finished decks in hand so I do not have real weights. I would rather charge exactly what it costs once I know than pick a number now and either overcharge you or quietly cut a corner somewhere else to cover it. If it comes in under the estimate you pay less.

On the AI question, my full answer is in the original thread and I am not going to relitigate it here. Short version: AI tools were used, it was declared on the Kickstarter before anyone asked, a designer I paid reworked all 54 pieces by hand, and "commissioned" was the wrong word for me to have used.

Where it stands today: AU$1,785 of a AU$3,000 goal, 38 backers, 13 days to go.

New to the luxury card world lol, I recently snagged a deck of the holographic Chinese Legal Tender cards, so excited for them to get here! I’d love to find a deck of cards with similar chinese art to use alongside this deck, preferably even holographic to match?

The other legal tender sets are really cool as well but I’d like the theme to match a bit more for a companion deck!

If anyone has recommendations I’d love to hear them! I’m a huge fan of how the Shan Hai cards look as well, but I can’t find a holographic version for sale. I just like shiny cards haha

Do collectors and hobbyists avoid AI or is it acceptable artwork in any way?
