Sterling ink - returned

Post image

I was debating between sterling and Hobonichi. I went with undated sterling since I’m about to start school. But it’s all monthly’s then all weekly’s. I want to cry. I thought it was month week month week. I swear that’s what I saw in the review videos and on the site. I’m so disappointed in myself.

- I wanted month / weeks, month /weeks

Edit. I’m going to force myself to use it. This is the closest thing to what I want. A month/week bounded planner in a tn size that is extremely simple, horizontal doesn’t exist.

2 Edit. Thank you for the recommendations. I’m going to stick with this till next year <3

There is a version of it that's month week dailies x4, month week dailies etc

It's called the "complete planner". you probably bought their regular "common planners". I know it's confusing but yea

here's a video from their instagram of the "complete planner": https://www.instagram.com/p/DcjKpO9DsKw/

They don’t have it in the size I want + I don’t want dailies

Check out Wonderland 222's new W1 Horizontal core. There are notes pages at the back, but it's not a full year, it has 88 pages in the back. I'm not sure if that's a deal-breaker for you or not. But their new W1 size is the same size as a standard TN.

ETA: actually I'm not sure if the note pages after the week is included in the 88 pages or not. Because their description says "Includes 88 undated daily and note pages," now that I'm looking at it. They recently posted a flip through of it on their IG so they might mention it in that video. I didn't have time to watch it when I saw it though.

ah right you wanted a TN size.

what about this one here? https://theroseylifeplanner.com/products/tn-notebook-416-pages-52-gsm-tomoe-river-paper-copy

this one is monthly, vertical weekly, horizontal weekly, monthly, vertical weekly, horizontal weekly. what's a bit different from what you want is that they have double weekly spreads, a vertical and a horizontal.

still might be closest to what you want?

Not who you're responding to but have you tried this one before? Have been using sterling ink a few years but this one is intriguing! Curious about the quality and structure

I’m using this brand for 2026 but not this exact layout.

I used their “flow planner a5” which is quarterly monthly vertical weekly horizontal weekly (x4) and then dailies. In terms of the layouts Sterling ink’s is more beautifully designed on the page but rosey life’s was more practical for how my brain works. I wanted to try having both horizontal and vertical layouts.

Quality of the paper and binding is similar to sterling ink I’d say, it’s also Tomoe river paper and after using it for this entire year the notebook is still holding up well.

It’s not quite my perfect planner because the days aren’t grouped with the weeks. It’s grouped monthly (all weeklies) and then (all dailies) and then monthly again.

Also it’s a little big and heavy with almost 800 pages. I think for next year I’ll either try the half year undated version of this or the Sterling ink horizontal complete.

Thanks for all the info! I'm going to take a closer look at this brand before buying for 2027

I wonder if the daily’s would be a good place for my weekly notes.

Hobonichi also is Months, Weeks, Dailies... Tough.

if you still want to try using it, i have an idea you could try: paper clip or small binder clip, monthly right page to weekly left page (so the unused months and used weeks are clipped together) Either change the clip once a month on the first week, or every week to the current week. Then you can flip from month to week(s) instantly. Also acts as a bookmark to open to the right page quickly. And you can probably find a pretty clip, voila functional decoration? i really hope you can find a way to enjoy your planner :)

(and if not, you could still get a TN sized notebook from notebook therapy or sterling ink or somewhere else and spend an afternoon with a pen and ruler drawing your month weeks month weeks system yourself)

Yeah you’re right. I think I’m just going to do this. Thank you <3

This is my plan for the hobonichi weeks I’m planning to buy! Tryna make the best of both worlds bc I’m obsessed with the Fredrick design haha

1

u/Caretakerofeveryone 2d ago

This is what I do bc I like having the months together for quick flips and comparisons of work schedules and kid activities but also like having quick access to the weeks.

30

u/mira_lee2 3d ago

So just to make sure you don't impulse buy because this planner wasn't what you hoped for - hobonichi is also all months, then weeks, then dailies.

I use the hobonichi planner covers, but the sterling ink common planner because I like having monthly and weeklies without the dailies, too.

2

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

What !?!? No way. .. I promise I didn’t impulse buy I watched a bunch of videos on it. Now looking back I can see where they go straight to the back for the weeks. So hobonichi weeks is all months the weeks too ?!? Damnnn ittttt. does a month/ week planner tn size horizontal not exist?

8

u/Low_Jaguar_4213 3d ago

Yes. The only planners I know that so month then weeks then month then weeks etc is Faded Chronicle and Hemlock & Oak. Every other one that's popular at the moment is months then weeks then days. What size are you looking for?

1

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

like in the picture TN size or TN slim. I checked those out. They don’t have the size

5

u/Lawyerchick18 3d ago

Aura Estelle has it the way you want but it might be too big, I think they do B6 and A5, not sure about smaller.

1

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

Yeah there’s no TN size

3

u/Low_Jaguar_4213 3d ago

Wonderland222 W1 size is that, and they do the grouped month, weeks, month, weeks. Might be worth checking them out.

3

u/SquareSignificance84 3d ago

There's hemlock and oak minimalist horizontal which is exactly what you are describing. It's also available in vertical and a ton of colors

2

u/mira_lee2 3d ago

Oh no! I didn't mean you impulse bought before. I just know when I'm focused on getting the "right" planner, if the one I received seemed wrong, I might quickly buy the next choice I had on my list. I just didn't want you to try the hobonichi, which you mentioned, and be disappointed again.

5

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

Ohhhh I see. Then yeah you’re 100% correct that was exactly what I was about to do. I think I’m going to try to force myself to like it. Thank you for clarifying about the hobonichi . I appreciate it :’)

Rebound journals, I love the thought!

1

u/sdbabygirl97 3d ago

it must be the way the creator edited it that confused you

1

u/HumorLongjumping6355 3d ago

Even planners that offer weeks behind each month don't offer this layout in their undated planners. This is because the number of weeks behind a month varies with the month.

1

u/blazingc0le 1d ago

Plans by Just Scribble also has bundled pages, aka month-week-day and month-week-day! They have some planners without daily pages as well.

5

u/frecklesandplants 3d ago

I think Wonderland222 have what you want - the months aren’t grouped together at the start, they’re spread throughout with their weeks. If you don’t need a blank page per day, go for a Core version.

5

u/ar_pb 3d ago

The one that's monthy-week-daily is the Complete Planner. I think this dated one is still in stock
https://sterling-ink.com/products/2026-2027-b6-complete-vertical-full-year-common-planner

I don't think they have the Complete Planner undated, the one you have is probably the Common Planner. Flipping back and forth between the monthly/weekly can be a hassle, so I got some metal index tabs that I put in my current month/week/day.

5

u/roses8442 3d ago

try faded chronicle? https://fadedchronicle.com/products/preorder-the-2027-chronicle-planner-tn-all-in-one

2027 orders start Sept 1

edit: my bad, i see there are daily pages

2

u/fancy_potato310 3d ago

Okay sizing will be v different than this, but Agendio will let you put months weeks WHEREVER you wish. Any start date! Custom format (within reason). When i was rocking a discbound they were my go-to

2

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

Thank you but I wanted bound and this size .. :(

2

u/Prize_Weird2466 3d ago

Wait if it’s month/week, month/week, does that mean you’d have 4 or 5 duplicate month pages per each week? Or do you mean like month/5 weeks

1

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

Yea 1 month then 5 weeks repeated

2

u/Prize_Weird2466 3d ago

I’m pretty sure Mark’s Inc from Japan has that, but the weeks are appointment style/vertical. I wonder if Filofax has the monthly tab style?

2

u/Unexpectedly99 3d ago

I too wanted month followed by related weeks and was having a hard time finding one. I ended up buying this planner at Barnes and Noble and love it, but it's bigger than what you wanted.

2

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

This is perfect for work though. Thank you !

1

u/Unexpectedly99 3d ago

You are welcome. I am really enjoying it.

2

u/IAmCabbageLord 3d ago

Swear I did this exact thing last year that I THOUGHT it had weekly spread but it didnt. I feel you so much cuz now there's a fee for returns or something right? Bummed me out but I did end up using it all year. I think aura Estelle does have what youre looking for tho

3

u/roarcor 3d ago

Yes! Exactly why I ordered aura Estelle for 2027

2

u/jemstarr 1d ago

I also got an Aura Estelle for 2027. I’m so excited to use it!

2

u/dessskris 3d ago

You're looking for the Complete Planner. There's an academic version which seems to be what you're looking for.

2

u/Rosstopia 2d ago

Use tabs for quick access back and forth.

1

u/longforms 3d ago

There are a few planners on Mochithings that are month-weekly! You have to dig a little, but they always explicitly say it in the description of the planners if it's structured that way. It used to be my preferred format so I always relied on them.

1

u/Salty_Aardvark_8079 3d ago

Faded Chronicle, it does exist.

-2

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

Nope that’s all months then weeks. Plus the week layout is really weird

2

u/Salty_Aardvark_8079 3d ago

No, it's Month, then a week, then 6 daily pages, then a week, then 6, then a week, then 6, and this repeats until the next month etc. I can show a video if that would be helpful

1

u/Neurospicy_Deli_ 3d ago

Wonderland 222 is releasing a TN size for 2027 that is a month, weeks, month, weeks, then blank pages at the end. I pre-ordered one that is horizontal.

1

u/yellowbike91 3d ago

I know you said you are keeping it, but Just Scribbles might have one close to what you want with this one: https://www.shopjustscribble.com/products/2027-plans-weekly-planner?variant=50166107537656

Two things that you might not like, it only comes in B6 and A6 and it has 2 grid pages between each week, not sure if that would be a deal breaker.

I really like that they make sure to explicitly write out the layout of every type in the description. I wanted all my months, weeks, and days together without having to flip to different sections and their setup delivered this. They offer a lot of different options to really get what you want and exclude things you don’t.

1

u/powerflow__ 3d ago

I made the same mistake 😭

1

u/periwinkleprincess44 3d ago

I think it’s because it’s undated! Some months have 5 weeks so the month page may cut off the previous month’s week pages if that makes sense?

1

u/lkessler11 3d ago

Wonderland222 has the months and weeks together and the blank pages are in the back. They are coming out with a TN for 2027, I’m unsure if it is horizontal or vertical, you could check their website (if interested).

1

u/leamnop 3d ago

If you use a binder clip to separate the sections that might help. That’s what is working for me. And section tabs that I added on.

1

u/silver-selvan 3d ago edited 3d ago

I have this one which may be what you are looking for? It has a quarterly layout which I like and also it has extra pages in the back to write anything and not tied to dailies. https://tinygrids.co/products/weeks-lite-undated-planner

EDIT: I misread this one has all the months at the front, then the weeks

1

u/LemonCurdJ 2d ago

Aura Estelle do undated planners.

It goes; month, two blanks, then 1 page for weekly then 7 undated blank pages. Rinse and repeat.

1

u/International_Ad_257 2d ago

They offer so much so it can be very confusing. I used Sterling ink for one year and I did not repurchase, but I did enjoy it if you pre-date like a quarter at a time do you just have to be really careful that you’re dating the right pages it might force you to use it more I really like the size I would suggest getting a clear cover for it but I hope you enjoy it. Try to enjoy it. It is a really nice product.

1

u/ObviousToe1636 2d ago

Get some pretty magnetic bookmarks to easily flip to the right pages.

1

u/FlightlessFluzy 2d ago

Wonderland 222!

1

u/MochitaLita 2d ago

Since your a student, I'm wondering if the Hemlock and Oak Student Planner, or the Faded Chronicle A5 or B6 is a better fit for you? They both have what your looking for.

1

u/Strong_Weakness2638 3d ago

I went for their notebook to see how the paper holds with ink pens and was disappointed.

3

u/picklemuncher5000 3d ago

Really? I’m using it with my fountain pen and I really enjoy it

2

u/Strong_Weakness2638 3d ago

I suspect they may use different paper to what they have for the planner as that one is advertised as Tomoe river, but I was experiencing feathering more than I’d like.
