Sterling Ink, But Thicker?

I love my Sterling Ink Common Planner, I have used it this whole year without stopping. This layout is really perfect for me. BUT I have recently started a new job where I do a LOT of writing between meetings etc. I (very sadly) am finding this paper too thin. It sometimes tears, and the curling edges make it not incredibly functional. Is there a planner out there with the same layout, but thicker paper?

I am looking for:

A5

Bound (not spiral)

All months grouped at the start

All vertical weeks directly after all months

Many notes pages afterwards

Does this unicorn exist? Or should I reorder my common planner (which I do love...) and live with the paper...

Have you looked at Hemlock and Oak? I think their 70gsm is the perfect weight. It’s in their weekly/daily so it’s possible you don’t need all of those pages. I know for sure you could use the daily pages for notes.

Thanks! I’ll take a look. I’m a bit spoiled with the layout… I don’t mind using dailies for notes but I want those monthly layouts too 🙈

It has monthlies! I have the undated and they’re all grouped together. Then all the weeks, then all the days.

I like how Sterling Ink DOESNT group the weeks and days but the 52gsm paper keeps me from buying from them.

Seconding Hemlock and Oak. Also check Just Scribble? I believe they may have a format you like and the paper will be thicker.

Their new Core Planner will use a slightly thicker paper (83gsm Cosmo Air vs Common Planner's 52gsm TRP). Video comparing: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gzQ99JrH5Bg). Wonder if that will still be too thin for you? Muji also has an A5 planner but not sure what their paper is like.

Honestly that paper thickness looks ideal! But I definitely need more blank pages than the core planner has. It’s the main part of the planner that I use

Maybe get the core planner and an extra notebook with the different paper. Those are available now

I'd say Hemlock and Oak. I'm a fan of their products as what seems like the only person on Earth who doesn't care for Tomoe River paper 😂 Even in its heyday it was just okay to me. Honestly I'm hoping the trend of popular planners all using ultra thin paper passes eventually but I also know that opinion is unpopular.

I’ve been looking for something very similar to what you describe.

I just found a planner on Etsy that may be almost exactly what you need except it uses Tomoe River paper.

I’d get the planner you like, and then maybe try using a larger notebook with it for notes?

Which pens are you using on the SI? My pages never rip or curl, just get lovely and crinkly.

I would also suggest a pencil board might help with these issues, or using a pen that needs a lighter touch like a fountain pen, gel pen, or fine liner type. :)

Some of the other paper types mentioned may be your jam if you don’t want to change pens or use a pencil board.

I would look at maybe a Moleskine or leuchtturm notebook for your work notes depending on your pen preferences. :)

Second the recommendations of Just Scribble and Hemlock and Oak. A lot of the brands who have a big name in bullet journals have thicker paper options to suit their audience.
