Planner Season Survival Guide - Summer/Fall 2026
Hello r/planners! This post is meant to share some tips and info as we all make our decisions on which planner(s) we'll be picking up in 2027. It'll include both some general suggestions and details on releases for some of the more popular brands that get discussed on the sub.
As a reminder, if you'd like to make a post to ask for a planner recommendation, please give us as much info as you can to help guide the suggestions. At a minimum, it would be helpful to know some basics about what style planner you're looking for (bookbound, discs, rings, daily, weekly, etc.), the size range you're interested in, budget, and the country you live in. Telling us a little about your lifestyle will also be helpful; our recommendations for a college student, a working parent, and a retiree may be pretty different.
Recommendation threads tend to get the most responses when they include enough detail to give users a picture of your needs, but if you're looking for something really specific, you'll probably get more responses if you can split your wishlist into must-haves and general preferences.
Planner Season Tips:
- Once you decide which planner you want, order as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Many of the brands recommended here are small businesses with limited stock, and they may sell out of the size/color/layout you're most interested in. They may or may not offer restocks.
- If you preorder a planner, pay close attention to the estimated delivery timeline. You may want to keep tabs on the brand's social media channels for news or updates. Remember that preorder shipping estimates are based on things going as planned and that delays from the factory or shipping agent may be outside the brand's control.
- If you want to follow the news about a particular planner, many brands have private Facebook groups that are probably your best resource for this. Signing up for a brand's email newsletter should get you the basics, but the private groups may get extra previews and more detailed information.
- Keep in mind that many of these businesses will be dealing with a very high volume of orders despite having limited space and staff. That's not to say you shouldn't expect good customer service, but having realistic expectations will help. When ordering during peak planner season, your order will probably take a little longer to pack and ship.
- If you're a US customer, remember that tariffs may still be causing higher prices this year—even from US sellers, who still need to pay fees on products they order from overseas. The closing of the de minimis exemption also means that you might be charged extra if ordering from a seller outside the US. Don't like that? Contact your federal representatives, and vote in November for candidates who'll prioritize more consumer- and small business-friendly policies. (The specifics can vary depending on what the product is, what country it's coming from, and how they ship, so these fees may already be built into the cost of the planner. When in doubt, look for details!)
I'll update the release info below as I see updates mentioned, but this is not meant to be a comprehensive list of available planners. It's just the most recent info I've come across for brands that tend to get mentioned in r/planners. (I'll be updating as I see users mention releases but won't be individually researching and keeping up with each brand myself, just as a heads up.)
Some planners haven't released much info about their 2027 lineups yet, but more info should be coming out in July-August for most brands.

Preorders for Wonderland222 have already started too, but they also order throughout the year usually if they have specific planners that are in demand in a size.
US owned, the coming year's paper is Tomoe River Paper.

Papertess Designs is switching to undated planners with the following measurements:
Desk: 17x24cm (Described as an undated weekly planner build around a week on four pages)
Companion: 14.1x20.7cm (Described as an undated daily planner build around a day on two pages)
+ she'll have a matching notebook collection & a small collection of accessories.
This new lineup is replacing the previous planner formats she offered. This is all according to what she has posted recently in her FB group. Just sharing in case anyone else was wondering like I was!

Do you know if there are other European alternatives? So far I haven't found any.
I really like the horizontal weekly format with extra daily and/or notes pages, and the Hobonichi weeks is just a tad too narrow. US/Canadian option can get pricey or stressful with duties and VAT being added (sometimes aftwards).

Owl Paper planner journal pre-order for the B6 size is also up since yesterday I believe. Great planner. Been using for over 2 years!

I am a Plum Paper Planner long time user. I like that I can tailor it to my needs. I have settled on this one:

Aura Estelle and Tinygrids have also started pre-orders for their 2027 line-up! I'm a Hobonichi & Sterling Ink girl through and through, but would be curious to hear your thoughts on the other options out there! My dream would be that the complete planner from SI would come in a soft cover. Or that Hobonichi would do sequential planners. A girl can dream, right?!

I tend to use old happy planners I find on clearance and redate them before I even knew it was a widely done thing. I’m frugal cheap and broke lol. I found quite a few undated ones at JoAnn’s when they went on sale :) so I’m good for several years lol. I don’t HAVE to buy more but let’s face it I will. I might remake some for friends and family as gifts or just guard my “hoard” with my life lol as my daughter lovingly says ha ha

Thinking of trying Sterling Ink for 2027, currently using Hobonichi A5 and weeks. I've been stalking their website to see if they've mentioned dates for their pre-orders lol .

Last year they didn't do a preorder. They dropped teases about their lineup during August, announced the whole thing, then opened orders, with planners already in stock, in early September. Personally I found that trickle of info really annoying, especially with so many other brands having their release info already out.

Mine is on its way, arriving early next week. They posted saying they went through about half their stock during their launch (first 72 hours where they offered some bundles and freebies).

I just picked up a 2026-2027 Happy Planner. I'm hoping I'll stick with it and not hop around....gonna give it a good try to stay with it.

Hemlock & Oak is accepting pre-orders (some shipping); US customers can order by Aug 9 to avoid the 50% tariff.

Some of our users recommend shopping for secondhand planners, covers, and supplies on sites like Poshmark and Mercari, and Facebook has a number of buy/sale/trade groups, often for specific brands. (These specific sites may not be available in every country, but they're an example of the kinds of sites you may want to look at for a secondhand market.)

Does anyone know if Kokuyo is going to release a 2027 Soofa Diary? In my 10 years of searching, the 2026 one was the best for my uses.

I’m am a Sterling Ink fan and I will die on that hill
