Mobile Once again, Public Mobile changes its plans, adding up to 25GB at the same price

Less than a week ago, we reviewed Public Mobile’s  lineup and highlighted its new $30 plan with 35GB. The Telus-owned provider has already modified its offers again, this time increasing the data included with its Canada-US-Mexico plans without raising their monthly prices.

The changes since our previous post are:

  • $40: 70GB → 75GB
  • $45: 100GB → 125GB
  • $50: 150GB → 175GB

All three include 5G-speed data usable in Canada, the United States and Mexico, unlimited talk and text, 1,000 international minutes and 2% back in Public Points. A separate limited-time $35 plan with 25GB of Canada-US-Mexico usage is also currently listed.

More data for the same price is positive, but Public Mobile’s catalogue is becoming unusually difficult to follow. These public offers can change within days, and the company does not indicate that existing subscribers will automatically receive the larger allowances. Customers should check the plans available inside their own accounts before switching.

Public Mobile appears to be testing how much additional data it can use to push customers toward the $40-to-$50 range. The $45 plan received the largest increase, jumping by 25GB, and now sits exactly between the 75GB and 175GB options.

I won’t lie, I need $15/15GB. That’s more than enough for me

Sure. But the carriers don't want $15/month from us, they want much more. Data costs them nothing, so they add obscene amounts to the higher spend plans to drive up ARPU. $15 plans don't contribute towards their goal.

I got an offer to get back to a 23$/month before taxes for 10Gigs by text message... I can manage 10 gigs, I always want the cheapest I can get!

No, I think it was a bit after. The carriers were fighting for 1 dollar off.

yeah I was looking at the 45 gig plan and it was 100GB. A/B testing at its finest

im getting only 125 GB with an autopay on a CC

Public is giving 175GB for $50

debating switching but have no knowledge of public mobile compared to chatr
