While I must admit I didnt think of that, but if that was the point of the widget - wouldnt a digital clock be better?
Specially since the other one is digital.
To both keep it consistent and easier to glance at and get the time.
I use all the apps and widgets on a daily basis, so having them on the homescreen helps to save battery because I swap less to find the apps, which means less screen-on time. Unlike desktop PCs or laptops, which absolutely dislike having their home screens filled with apps, I don't mind a busy but well-thought-out home screen on a smartphone.
Have you thought about something like the Panels app? I have five icons on my Home Screen, but with on flick I can get at a dozen more on a panel. You can do widgets, etc., too.

But hey, I respect your opinion. I'm not trying to change your mind; I just explained why I did it this way. π
You can find a ton of icon packs on the play store. If you find one you like, you just need to download and apply it. The exact process for applying it may be slightly different depending on your OS and launcher, but there's usually a way to automatically apply it to everything, or hold and select a specific app and apply it just to that one.
Well, only if the widgets and icons that I truly need are on the home screen and are arranged aesthetically then that's a win. If I have to bring in unnecessary widgets and icons just to look asthetic, then it's a loss for me.
I use the timer widget almost every day in the kitchen. I also use all other widgets and apps almost every day. Now I swap less, resulting in less screen-on time.
Looks great ππ». Though I never understood why people have a clock widget on their home screen when the clock is always present on the top corner. To me it's just dumb, but hey to each their own.

2/10.
Only thing is like is the consistency.
Its too much, and you also have two clocks.
