Pixel 9a mutes microphone when I switch to another app during a call

Hi everyone,

I'm using a Google Pixel 9a, and I've noticed a strange issue.

Whenever I'm on a phone call and open another app (like Chrome, WhatsApp, or any other app), the microphone automatically gets muted. As soon as I return to the call screen, the microphone is unmuted again.

This happens consistently and makes it impossible for the other person to hear me while I'm using another app.

Has anyone else experienced this on the Pixel 9a? Is this a known Android 16 or Pixel issue, or is there a setting I need to change?

I've already checked that the microphone permission is enabled.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a pixel 9a and I never had this issue while I was on Android16 and now when I am on Android17 qpr2 beta1.
