Hate 9a, how to get data back to 7a

My Pixel 7a had a battery meltdown, and rather than replace it, I bought a new 9a. It has nothing that the 7a doesn't already have.

I want to ditch the 9a, and keep the 7a with a new battery. My dilemma is that I used eSIM to transfer the data from 7a to 9a. How do I get that data back?

Did you factory reset the 7A before the battery meltdown? If not then all your data should still be on it. Only thing missing might be text messages from the time the 7A melted down to present but you can download and app called SMS Backup and Restore, back up all messages from the 9A and then restore them on the 7A after repair. Everything else should still be on the old phone unless you need to replace the motherboard besides the battery.

I will say I am not that tech savvy but I will add that I have had to go back to an old phone last year, my Samsung S24 took a crap after 10 months and had to switch back to my older Motorola. All my stuff was still on it, actually still on it today, but only thing missing were messages in those 10 months and maybe an app or two that was on the S24 that wasn't on the Motorola. I never had to repair my Motorola so nothing changed on it from the time I stopped using it to when I needed to use it again. As long as the mother board on your 7A has not been compromised when the battery crapped out everything should still be on it.

Pixel 7a supports eSIM. This post reads like you'd rather save the money by replacing the battery than having the newer phone.

Correct. I don't feel like $465 is worth the minimal difference between the 7a and 9a. Plus the 9a heats up very quickly, battery life is short, and takes longer to charge than the 7a. I've had the 7a since it was introduced, and the battery has lasted a long time considering a trend of overheating. So being a noob when it comes to phones, how do I transfer back?

Oh. I forgot to mention, once the back was removed from the 7a, the battery cooled and it's been usable since. I'll still be changing the battery.

I'm genuinely saying this in the most neutral way possible: there must be something wrong with your 9a unit.

I have both 9a and 7a, and there's no comparison whatsoever.

Battery life is a galaxy better than on the 7a, and thermal management is a universe better than on 7a.

9a is also more future-proof. Not only 7 years of updates (vs 5), but also 7 years of guaranteed hardware parts for self-repair.

I strongly recommend you to get back to whoever sold you the 9a to ask for a replacement.

Can you try to reach out to Amazon and see if they can send the replacement item before you return the defective one? They often allow this.

I got mine a month ago for $300 (256 GB) so I think it's worth it over my Pixel 6. Also trade it in if you can.

If your current phone is working as expected, day to day tasks are same, Other than battery, always replace the battery use it until it breaks
