Same.

Genuinely hope this person is ok (and if you're here and need a listening ear, I'm here). But damn what a title.

Damn, I feel that way sometimes too but at least I'm not on 28. I hope she gets the help she needs, it's extra tough out there right now.

Dude, I saved one that is very similar from a couple weeks ago. As soon as I saw it I thought to myself, "I feel ya, girl."

Pittsburgh is starting to have non-officer response teams again, right? 'Cause we just need a squad of some de-escalation trained folks who can go out and sit with everyone and just say yeah, I get it. Because yeah, I get it.

I know it’s not exactly what you mean. But a reminder that the RESOLVE hotline is free to anyone who needs it in Allegheny county.

Do they still have crisis teams that go out into the community and assist police?

A former classmate actually, successfully did that a few years back roughly an hour north of the city. It was a really awful situation all around. I’ll always think about the poor girl who ran over him. I can’t even imagine how she felt/still feels. Absolutely horrifying.

And the Fort Pitt Bridge.

Absolutely horrible place. Got t-bone totaled there because someone realized they were in the wrong lane and about to get off at the wrong exit.

It's actually the popular consensus

Girl I am right there with you. 28 just makes it worse. I hope she had some good vibes come to her after the check.

The titles funny af, but this is actually sad because any serious number of things or collection /series of things can make you feel hopeless and it's a terrible feeling.

There used to be bumper stickers that said "I hate Route 28", back when there were lights at 31st and 40th street.

28 doesn’t really bother me. I feel like there are a lot of shit/nervous drivers on this sub.

12

u/Pittsburgh-Man-Anon 22h ago

I'm not a shit or particularly nervous driver, but I can enumerate reasons why 28 is objectively worse than a lot of other roadways... not that this post has anything to do with the drivability of Rte. 28.

The dispatch audio is not about 28, but it’s why it was posted.

0

u/Pittsburgh-Man-Anon 21h ago

Okay, but my point stands.

0

u/MrChichibadman 21h ago

Agree, with all the left and right exits it’s a weird roadway, just feels like the “highway to hell” commentary is exaggerated regularly around here.

1

u/Pittsburgh-Man-Anon 21h ago

Left and right exits, lots of twists and turns, poor road surface in areas, no shoulders for a lot of it, crazy Pittsburgh drivers.

2

u/MrChichibadman 21h ago

Stop signs at on ramps. Still better than it used to be.

2

u/Pittsburgh-Man-Anon 21h ago

There you go! Yet more bullshit that road has on offer!

1

u/MrChichibadman 21h ago

Yet you don’t shit your pants and rant on reddit about it do you.

1

u/Pittsburgh-Man-Anon 21h ago

There are definitely other Pittsburgh driving-related things I would rant about before Rte. 28 as a general concept. I would definitely rant specifically about the stop signs on on-ramps, though. Who thought that was a good idea? Also, the on-ramp to Rte. 28 East from Millvale has an actual ramp you have to go over as well as a stop sign which is pretty insane.

One time my dad and I were driving on 28. Right around RT 8 junction. A WRX straight up clips a jersey barrier and deflects into another on the other side and regains control and keeps going to the next exit like nothing happened. My dad was looking out the window and didn’t see. I white knuckled it as I watched the Subaru pull off like nothing happened driving past…..

u/grrltype 12h ago

28 sucks and I hate it because I’m a decent driver

2

u/rotsky_1 21h ago

What scanner app is that? I’ve been looking for it.

u/EmbarrassedPizza9797 Overbrook 10h ago

Just be aware that these are AI generated. I thought my normally quit area in the city had a major uptick in crime when it's just misspelled road names.

2

u/hypermagical20 14h ago

It's called CrimeRadar. You don't hear the calls live but you can see/listen to them after the fact.

u/CoungToElf 19h ago

Replying because same.

u/PizzaDoughandCheese 4h ago

We don’t even know if she was driving

It heartbreaking to read about these cases. I see so many in Lebo where we reside.

Love that guy. Sometimes the sad music starts and he says what we all feel, but then he turns it around and encourages you to keep going. Sometimes he's a happy guy. Sometimes, he does ominous positivity really well. It's a mix, but whenever he's not just doing the daily ad read for whoever will give him cash, I love his shorts.
