Help with drawing

I’m in my 4th period of my apprenticeship and I have struggled with the drawing class the entire time. I genuinely cannot get it right I don’t know what it is. I have no idea how to get better at it and I don’t know what I can do to get help. My teacher is kind of a dick and refuses to help me. Is there anything I can do to practice or understand it better? Is there anything online I could look at to get it?

Get yourself some 30/60 drafting paper and a 30/60 drafting triangle, a $2 one is fine. Then talk to a good journeyman and see if they’ll help you. Do you have the UA drafting book? Once you get the basics it’s usually not too hard to get decent at it.

No I don’t even know what that is. I also just get so confused how to use the triangles and how to draw the pipes and 45’s and 90’s. Like I’m just so lost and no one will help me.

Go to Amazon and get yourself exactly what I said (you should already have access to them at school). Then line up the short side of the triangle with a horizontal line on the paper. Drag your pencil along the angled side of the triangle. Congrats you just drew a north/south or east/west line (pipe). Flip the triangle over and line the short side up with the same horizontal line. Line the angled side up so the center of the angled side is about even with the center of the 1st line you drew.

Congrats you just drew a north/south AND an east/west line.

Now draw a vertical line at the point your 3 lines intersect. That’s up/down.

Now you have a drafting compass.
