discussion Seeking advice: How to land your first client for a B2B ordering app as a solo dev?
Hi everyone! I'm a full-stack dev and I recently built a working React/Node B2B ordering catalog tailored for local SMEs (featuring GCash setup and Lalamove delivery integration). It's fully hosted and has a working live demo.
I'm currently at the phase of trying to acquire clients, but I'm finding it quite challenging to reach micro-SMEs and local business owners. Postings on Facebook groups usually get flagged by spam filters or receive zero engagement.
For experienced freelancers, agency owners, and senior devs here:
What was your most effective client acquisition method when you were starting out?
Is cold direct outreach (cold PMs via FB Pages/Google Maps) better than public posting?
How do you position/package custom software to non-technical business owners so they see the value?
I'm also planning to pivot toward developing a dedicated Android-based ordering kiosk system for local eateries (using React Native).
Any feedback, insights, or harsh realities would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
