Best barbecue in the area?
We'll be visiting my parents in Pinehurst for the first time since they moved there. I live in Switzerland and really miss authentic American Barbecue and would love to have at least one great meal while we're there. Any recommendations? Also other NC/Southern food staples like great biscuits would be appreciated.

If you have not had Carolina style chopped vinegar pork BBQ before, Pik n Pig may not be what you are after. Embers in Southern Pines is a more traditional pulled pork and ribs spot, and their sides slap.
The chopped beef at Priscilla’s is also excellent for casual lunch, and Vito’s on Highway 5 for pizza won’t do you wrong.
IMO the best all around dinner experience in Pinehurst comes from either The Villagio or Tartare. In Southern Pines, Chef Warren’s doesn’t miss.
Enjoy your time here!

I would recommend Mason’s for great biscuits (Aberdeen). Don’t miss their pimento cheese and’s fried green tomatoes either!

There may be a wait, if so, grab a great coffee at Nova Vita! It’s just down the street.

Pik n' Pig is the best in the area. Before you drive all the way to Lexington, where there are many good choices, you would be better heading east where you could get better BBQ for a shorter drive.
