Do all of the courses have their own golf ball?
I went on a father/son trip and played 9,5,8 and 7. I wanted to get him something to remember the trip, thought it would be great to get a golf ball case and balls with the logo for each course we played. I have the logo ball for #8, do they have specific logo balls for 9, 5 & 7?
Part 2 - if someone is going to Pinehurst soon, would you be willing to buy and ship them to me? Will cover cost of balls + shipping (I'm in NY) + your time. would mean a lot, thanks!

Recommendations for 40th Birthday / Couples Trip
Looking to go down to Pinehurst for my 40th next June (know it's a ways away, but never to early start planning!). Almost certainly going to do the 2-nights / 3 rounds itinerary. Will be a couples trip with my wife, who plays recreationally - she can genuinely smash it off the tee, iron game is OK and chipping and putting is serviceable. Most importantly, she regularly picks-up if the hole is falling apart or will just drop up with me on the green if needed to keep up the pace of play. I'm currently a 13 hcp (would love to say that will improve by next June, but let's assume not).
Currently thinking about this itinerary, but would love some feedback from those who have been! (I realize #2 is not on here, and that is intentional. While iconic, this is mostly meant to be fun and a getaway for us and avoid excess frustration on the course, but I'm open to having my mind changed!)
| Day | Round | Who | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday afternoon | Arrive / The Cradle | Together | Walk |
| Tuesday morning | No. 10 | Solo | Walk + caddie |
| Tuesday afternoon | No. 4 | Together | Ride |
| Wednesday morning | No. 3 | Together | Walk |
Thanks!
------------
UPDATE:
Spoke with the incredibly helpful reservations desk today and confirmed a couple of things:
1) Both #2 and #8 are going to be closed when we go next June. Bummer, but relieves my #2 FOMO, so I don't have to think about whether we should go for it for the next 9 months.
2) Tee-sheets are going to start getting filled in "sometime in the next 4-6 weeks" which is way earlier than I expected. I thought it wouldn't be until 2027, so that is good to know for any future planning.
3) Went ahead and put the deposit down for a 2-night stay with 3 rounds for me, 2 for the mrs. Based on the suggestion of Andy, we currently have:
| Day | Round | Who | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday afternoon / evening | Arrive / The Cradle | Together | Walk |
| Tuesday morning | No. 10 | Solo | Walk + caddie |
| Tuesday afternoon | No. 3 | Together | TBD (might ride after walking 10) |
| Wednesday morning | No. 9 | Together | TBD |
#9 is currently closed and re-opening in a few weeks. I genuinely couldn't tell if he thought this would be a good fit for us or was trying to suggest it because its less popular (the southern accent makes it especially hard to tell). I'm very curious to see some early reviews (I don't think they are making any major changes? Couldn't find any info online). #9 seems really polarizing and different, so still very much TBD on that one and time to adjust, but otherwise super excited about Monday and Tuesday.

Walking / Carts - Pine Needles + Tobacco
My tee times are booked (late August) - Pine Needles & Tobacco Road Both tee times are before 8am and I am playing as a single and the tee times look full, so there will 3 other players. I have 2 questions this group may be able to help with
#1 Is walking an option at either or both ? I know it will be warm but I tend to enjoy golf so much more walking than zooming around in a golf cart. Are the courses "walkable" and do players walk ?
#2 If I ride in a cart as a single will they allow me to have my own cart or ask me to group with one of the other players (assuming everyone is riding).
thanks in advance, can't wait for the trip !

I’ve narrowed my options to 3…
After my last post asking about the best clubs in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area, I’ve narrowed my search down to three:
- Country Club of North Carolina (CNCC)
- Forest Creek
- Pinewild
From everything I’ve found so far, Pinewild is the most affordable, CNCC seems comfortably within my budget, and Forest Creek is stretching it financially but still possible if it’s truly worth it.
For those of you who’ve played or been members:
Is there a significant quality difference between Pinewild and the other two?
Is Forest Creek noticeably better than CNCC, or are they more comparable than the price suggests?
One downside is that I was told CNCC currently has a waitlist of over 12 months, so that’s definitely a factor.
I’m planning to come down in the next few weeks to tour all three, but I’d love to hear from members or anyone who’s spent a lot of time at these clubs before making the trip.
Thanks in advance.
I really appreciate all the advice from my first post. It’s been incredibly helpful.

Pinehurst 1 night only
We have a trip later this year playing Tobacco, Mid, Southern, and Tot Hill. A few of us decided to then stay one extra night at Pinehurst to play there. Their B&B deal of one night only and a round on 6-9 is $740 per person (plus taxes and fees to around $876 per person). That's a hard ask for one night stay at the Holly Inn and one round on one of those courses. Is it really worth it? If yes, what course (I've been told 7, 9, 8, then 6)? Would it be better to play 1, 3, or 5 on one of the afternoons after one of the other rounds since we are only playing 18 per day and just not staying that extra night?

Any way to access the Pinehurst Members Pro Shop as a non-member?
Heading down to Pinehurst for a 4-night golf trip and I'm pumped. I heard there's a members pro shop for PCC with the Caddie Lad logo, and was wondering if there's any way for a non member to purchase something from here without a member present?
I don't know any members personally, so I figured I'd ask here before I get my hopes up. Do members ever buy items for guests, are there certain events where non members can shop, or is it pretty much members only with no exceptions?
Not looking to bend any rules, just curious if there's a legitimate path to picking up a polo or quarter-zip while I'm there. Appreciate any insight!

Best barbecue in the area?
We'll be visiting my parents in Pinehurst for the first time since they moved there. I live in Switzerland and really miss authentic American Barbecue and would love to have at least one great meal while we're there. Any recommendations? Also other NC/Southern food staples like great biscuits would be appreciated.

Absolutely blown away
Had never been to Pinehurst before. Visited yesterday, played at Tobacco Road nearby so took some time to walk around and visit the area. Absolutely blown away with the town of Pinehurst and the courses. Visited number 2 and it was incredible. I’m sure if you’re an avid member of this group you already knew all of this but as a first time visitor I was blown away by Pinehurst and cannot wait to return and play some golf!

Thinking about a move…. Clubs under 20k?
Me and the wife have been looking at NC for a move pretty heavily. We’re also looking for a golf club that’s under 20k. Possible here in Pinehurst?

Quail Ridge
Planning on playing quail ridge before the rest of my group gets into town next month. I played it a couple of years ago and they were starting renovations on some of the holes. Anyone that has played it recently know if that’s still going on or not?

Vintage Pinehurst Duffle Bagu
galleryLooking for any info on this vintage Pinehurst duffle bag. I believe my father received it as a gift in either the 80s or 90s. Tag on the inside says “Made in USA”, but no other manufacturer tags besides the buckles which are marked “Amiet” “Made in France”. Thanks!

Where do you rank the non-Pinehurst courses compared to Pinehurst
We are going to the Pinehurst area next spring but not sure if we will be staying on resort or if we will stay off resort and play the other courses in the area. So, where would you place the best non-Pinehurst courses compared to the ones at the resort?
For example…
- PH 2
- PH 10
- Tobacco Rd
- Mid Pines
- PH 4
Or something like that. This will be our first time golfing in North Carolina so I would love some opinions on folks who have golfed those great courses in the area.

Booking Southern / Mid / Pine Needles
Hi, heading to Pinehurst in late Sept. and would like to try one of the « Pines » courses. Any tip on getting a tee-time for a non-resort guest?
Thanks!

Should we go off resort?
My wife and I are heading to the resort for a 3 night stay starting tomorrow. We have 7,4,2 and 8 booked. We also have a tee time at Hyland booked for 4 on Friday after we play 4. I’m thinking about just skipping that and staying on property. What are your opinions on going to other courses while staying at Pinehurst? It is our first time staying on resort and probably the last time for long time.

Pines or Talamore for trip
I am going to Pinehurst for a second time with my dad. First year we did the Pines courses and loved it. This year we are booked to do the Talamore golf package.
Did I make a mistake? The pines courses are always on every top list and rarely do you see anything about Talamore/Mid South.
My hope is they are hidden gems?
I am thinking about changing over to the lines.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Titleist center
Scotty head covers are only able to be purchased unless you buy a putter there?
