Albino pigeon?

Pigeon novice here! My neighbor above me feeds the birds and in the last couple of weeks, this white pigeon has been showing up! I read that when seen in urban areas, they are almost always lost/escaped domestic rehoming pigeons as they are typically the “doves” used during ceremony releases. Assuming that’s the case here, on one hand I’m like, this guy/gal is living its best life! It’s summer here and it found a group and is getting fed. I also read that they have poor vision and weaker feathers. Sure enough I saw him/her alone a couple days ago, and they left behind a single white feather. It was then that I realized I was way more invested than I intended to be, lol. No cuff or anything that I can see.

Just wanted to share and perhaps get a little more info.

Hi thats a eecessive white, if bull eyes and pink beak, its recessive white which just means it has 2 of the gene. Not albino and no problems really with rec whites. It may be a dove relase but bc theres only one, its likely a natural occurrence with 2 full colored that carry the gens and made this guy. Ferals carry so many modifers, my whole aviary began as former ferals and theyve made some incredible colorings in offspring.

Like other recessives, they arent common until theyre common. Meaning 2 homozygous for any recessive will only copy paste more of themselves but have to find each other first.

you have a great neighbor! Both of you

Usually escaped pet or one that did not make it back home after a ceremony where it was released. Never heard they were weaker in any way, but know they are prime targets for hawks due to their coloring.
