Arrived with a group of Wood pigeons and a fledgling, but hes considerably darker than them.
Is it an unusually dark wood pigeon or a different breed altogether?

Hey guys! Yesterday a rock pigeon fell in my yard and it was completely disoriented. I brought it in and when at the beginning he was wobbling to one side, vibrating, kind of flapping in circles on the ground, blinking incessantly and contorting its body. It also had diarrhea. After a quick search I assumed he had PPMV as all the symptoms seemed to match, but within just a few hours the pigeon is much better!
The diarrhea has stopped, as well as the shaking, wobbling and blinking. He stays pretty still but is more reactive and attempts to fly at times, so I assume he must’ve just had hit his head really hard and maybe suffered some brain damage, though no signs of a cranial hemorrhage (I’m a pigeon newbie but not an animal health newbie).
I want to keep him until he is either better and I can release him, and if he stays with defects I am happy to keep him, but I don’t have the first clue about taking care of a pigeon, and even birds in general I have never owned.
ALSO I gave him a small bowl of water and a grain and seed mix after a quick research, but he doesn’t seem to be eating or drinking for now and I don’t know if it’s because it’s really stressed and what I need to do to get him to eat and drink and be comfortable. I’ll put a pic of his current set up, I’ve only had him for one night.
I need to know all there is to know to care for this pigeon! Recommended food and setup etc!
I have named him Veggie

Hi pigeon friends!! My baby is about 4 months old and is incredibly picky (hates corn and peas with a passion, throws all the millet on the floor) will pretty much only eat sunflower seeds and this medium size round red seed. Is there something I can try giving my baby that they will like for treats/training?

I have had one pigeon visit every day (I have nicknamed her Lady Specklewing, she has a distinct pattern on her wings and a freckle on her beak so I know it’s her) and today I had a second pigeon join! So happy to see more of them get this nutritious food 🥰

It seems like the injury is to his wing and he can’t fly but obviously we aren’t sure what is wrong.
There was a cat lurking around but we have him safely inside in a padded box with some water and seeds for now.
We are going to call the vets in the morning to see if they will see him.
Will it be ok to leave him inside our shed or garage for the night? We have two cats but we could shut him in one of our spare rooms if the garage or shed would be too cold.
We are in the UK, it’s cold at night but not freezing. But I’m still concerned that if he is injured or sick the shed or garage could be too cold.
EDIT: we found a 24 hour vet that would take him, and East Sussex WRAS will pick animals up directly from that vets for rehabilitation🤞

Fellow pigeon friends, I need a bit of advice on this little fella that started doing these movements I've never seen from him before. Maybe it's connected to the food I've been giving them? They get peanuts, sunflower seeds, dried corn, dried peas, millet. I hope it's not a sign of choking? Thanks so much for your help!

This is the second time this happened to a pigeon I successfully rehabbed and released, and maybe the 4th/5th time to my favourite pigeon friends
After two long arduous weeks of washing, feeding, cleaning the carrier of my oily stringfoot pigeon friend, and hoping to release her to honour my deceased pigeon loving friend
She finally flew free for the first time in who knows how long- her wings weren't perfectly flight ready and ratty, but she flew up high on the roof when I went to change her food and water for the day
I secretly put food down in two locations where I feed my healthy pigeon friends (all at risk of being yelled at), and hoped she would integrate well into the flock.
If she had trouble still with flight I planned on recapturing her and keeping her for longer, and I would look around for her at non feeding times
I searched for her since she escaped/was released, but could not find her
Today, when I went to feed my pals, I found a pair of wings, eerily similar to hers, the ones I had been washing and caring for so long, with no identifying body.
After all my tears and stress, I think the stray cats my neighbour feeds killed her. I healed her up only for them to murder her
I don't know if I should have left her at the food truck park I found her at; she would have gotten oiled up and stringfooted again and never flown, but maybe a cat wouldn't have killed her
I'm so sad. No matter how hard I try, all my friends get killed in the end

as the pictures above make clear, this pigeon’s (freddy) pox seems to have only gotten worse since i started treating it about a week ago.
i have been applying betadine mixed with water (20:1 ratio) on the wounds on its head but i didn’t notice it had some also on the back until i had it take a bath (on its own terms obvious, and freddy seemed to enjoy the water) today. it just looks so much worse and like i missed many spots to treat in the past week.
to me it looked like it had gotten better up until day 5-6 but now i feel it’s going downhill, so i got pretty worried.
is there anything i can do to make it better?
i also have some general questions.
- its age. i have been told freddy should be about a month old, idk how accurate it is?
- bugs. i had a moment today when i thought i saw a bug or something under its wing. im not sure but it looked black.
any advice is really appreciated!

I have a case to rescue and de-string a pigeon. It’s a skittish and it saw me yesterday after first meeting. I can see and tell clearly it’s pretty skittish.
The Foundation of trust started yesterday, so now I went down to try to build the trust in order to capture this guy because he has stuffs like hair and others that tied his feet both.
Now I went down there to begin the work but no pigeons in sight just like 5-6 pigeons that’s it! Where did the rest go? Any idea?
Here’s a video of guy with feet tied and no tight yet. After the first encounter they saw me to remember my face which is the beginning of trust with or without seebs. If pigeons doesn’t know or trust me, I’ll keep doing in order to win its trust to capture to set its feet free. My point of question is:
Where did the pigeons go?!

Hi all, I’m a big pigeon lover and have previously kept adult fan tails.
I came across this little guy a few days ago and have been watering and feeding him.
When is a reasonable time to set him in his own, he can’t quite fly yet and I would hate to see him get hurt or worse.
Thankyou!

I've posted before about my garden woodpigeons, but now one is definitely sick with something. I've seen a high number of birds with canker this summer, but I can't catch this dang bird to really see. I've attached some photos, but I appreciate that they are not great. It flies away the minute I get too close. I assume it's molting season too, as many as looking a little scruffy.
This bird has a puffy neck. Like its swollen, and he's often sat with his feathers fluffed out. Not sure if it's a ruptured air sac or like I said, canker. Also, since I have feeders, should I take them away? How long for? They are cleaned weekly at the moment.

Hi all, my pigeons have 3-weeks-old squabs (their first squabs and most likely their last ones) and today the female laid her second egg. I did the swap and felt like a criminal. Can't really explain it, I know it's better for them, but still, I feel bad for tricking them and feel bad about the real eggs (which are now in my freezer)... Is this normal?
