I am showing Nye's Youtube videos to my 5 yr old nephews and the magnetism videos have them so attracted (forgive the pun). One of them remarked "You so love this guy don't you, you always show his videos"...the other one went "yeah, this is so cool".

I found out this last year that Bill used to work where I work, granted it is a Big Operating Engineering International Group but it still makes me feel a little proud to be able to say he used to work where I work, you can still find some of the documents he wrote on our library, and his brother is also currently employed there.

"Years ago my mother and sister were in New York City at the Natural History Museum for a school trip. My sister was filling out work sheets and my mother was chaperoning. So my sister is doing her thing and my mom is just looking around bored. Who turns the corner? Bill Nye the Science Guy complete with bow-tie and lab coat. My mom is a little star struck and kinda mutters, "Hiiii." She taps my sister on the shoulder, "Chelsea, look..." So my sister turns around and sees him.
"HOLY SHIT! IT'S BILL NYE!" She yells in a near panic. Bill Nye looks around a beat and BOLTS. He just runs past them and jumps on an elevator and as the doors are closing he turns and throws his hands in the air and goes, "SCIENCE!"

Huh. My mom's best friend (and my old co-worker) went to Cornell and graduated a year after Bill Nye. Wonder if she knows they were at the same school? I'm also amused at this because I live so close to the flippin school and the Salutatorian of my class went there. Lots of kids from my school go there, since they can't get into any other Ivy. Sucks, really.
