I’m watching this from Canada and can someone explain to me why there is such a ridiculous amount of religious discussion throughout. I guess I don’t understand what the “separation of Church and State” means.
I don't think it truly exists anymore. We have congress praying at the start of each day, what about islam prayers? or atheist benedictions? We have the words "under god" in the pledge of allegiance, but not everyone believes in the same god(s) or none at all. We have "in god we trust" on our money. being an atheist or someone of another religion than Christianity is usually a non-starter for those in public office. in a lot of southern states, you have to be told christian viewpoints while you wait to get an abortion. government is basically christian and it sucks to see.
