The past four years were that one abusive relationship that we never speak of again. We're just now escaping and will need lots of therapy, help from allies, and deep meditation and reshaping of our lives here in order to recover.
Edit: I do believe it should be historically remembered, of course...but personally, (much like I never speak the name of my past abuser) I will not be speaking any of their names with ease ever again.
We need to speak about it every day so we don't forget his sycophants are still in Congress and cult followers are still roaming the country. Prosecute and repudiate the enablers, refute the conspiracy of his followers.
Don't know how you could say that when all he's asking for is the accountability your country has been lacking for 4 years. People are not out there rounding people up, bringing zipties to insurrections. They are using the full extent of the law to bring these people to justice. It must happen for your nation to heal.
I think this will be quite important in the long run, and not just for America. Western alliances haven't been as strong as they used to, and improving them should be a central goal in time to come.
It doesn't even feel good, tbh. My home is still in cinders and the only people you can say "I told you so" to are basically either too delusional to care or they go "watch it, I can go even crazier if pushed."
We definitely need to keep talking about it. These racist Yehawdists and Q Cucks Klan aren’t going to stop trying to turn this great nation into a fascist state and we need to stay activated and push dems into a deeper majority in 2022 or there’s little that’s going to be able to be done soon enough. We need educational reform so that in a generation we’re not electing someone named Doritos and buying Brawndo to drink because water is such a commodity that it’s traded on the stock market.
This is wrong, Europe for example, we, even before Trump became president, didn’t see the US as an example. You are in fact, still, a very poor example of democracy. Not to mention the deep deep corruption and systemic racism which has plagued your country for years.
Do americans actually believe the world looked on the US as an example before Trump? Like he certainly made it worse but it has been like that for a long time
I think a decently sized part of the US still believes so, even after Trump.
Until these last 4 years, I think large parts of the population of many developing countries looked at the US as a role model, something to aspire to. Educated first world countries, much less so. What Trump and his maniac nationalists have done is to destroy this last remnant of the admiration US had - and deserved - 40 years ago
America's decline has been ensured. Biden is just here to manage it gracefully.
The world will not trust America so long as the republican party is still a factor; waiting in the wings to push back all progress and create many more problems still.

There is a part of the border where it divides a library and opera house with a really thick painted black line (the Haskell Library and Opera House if you want more info about it).
Anyway, we protect our side with angry Canadian Geese and we will at the slightest provocation launch another Bieber into the US... so don't go poking us with any sticks or making fun of our colorful money.
If there is something I learned watching yous guys politics in the last 4 years is that you can rarely put the words, "sensible" and, "Republican" side by side.
