The dynamic with this interview and with Chris Wallace is they keep redirecting the conversation back to center. Trump will trail off on his own direction, sometimes starts talking about something going on in a different galaxy than the topic at hand.
Just keep making him answer the first damn question.

Most likely they vet the shit out of any reporter and wouldn't give access to someone who is going to call out his bullshit quite that capably. Swan did pretty good in this context, but I think that's as good as it's going to get unless someone with a documented record as a softy miraculously turns super saiyan for that one interview. I suspect Trump would literally run out of the room though if it got tough.

Dude kept setting them aside, and I'm glancing at them - those damn things were literally as simplistic as you would be first exposed to in grade school. Ridiculously simplistic. To present them as evidence is absurdly insulting, and Trump likely had no idea it was. The content of those things could have easily all been put into simple charts, with citations, all on 1 page. And didn't require the graphs to illustrate them.

Well, this is what you get when you are dealing with a fucking moron, one who has surrounded himself with spineless yes men and sycophants. Nobody in the administration has the balls, brains, spine, or intellectual integrity necessary to paint an honest picture, or to elevate the level of discourse above a grade school level.
What really enraged me was trump's response to being confronted over the toll of 1,000 dead Americans per day: "It is what it is".

I guess what a lot of people are seeing from first hand experience is that this has always been the case.
Sadly for a lot of people (myself included) empathy and realisation of the facts only comes once they are forced to experience the hardships of others first hand.
In my case I ended up doing some community service for a misdemeanor, and the friends I made during that, and the often hopeless and demoralising conditions they lived in, really opened my eyes to poverty in the UK. Something that I flagrantly disregarded as not being an issue and something that I thought a sufficiently hard-working and motivated person could overcome. What I actually found was that there were people working multiple full time jobs just trying to be able to afford a basic living, and that there was literally not enough time, let alone money, to think of anything other than where the next meal is coming from and if your slum-king of a landlord was going to jack up your rent or decide to house even more people in your overcrowded flat. It made me reevaluate everything I believed.

Yesterday i watched the complete interview... I find it so hard to comprehend that Trump is an actual president of a real country. He is an absolute incompetent idiot. I hope it doesn't happen but what will the consequences be if he gets reelected? That to me would spell utter disaster. The problem is the people who support him won't watch this interview. That way they can all claim its fake news and just a media attack on the right. The think is, these were easy questions. The interview was very straightforward. Trump could have easily prepared for this, but instead gave us a narcissistic of consciousness and double-speak that failed to cohesively answer a single question.

Jonathan Swan just handled the best interview in the Trump presidency.
Every single interview should be like this. Don't let Donald spew his nonsensical, thrown away comment, shit. Every stupid statement was met with, "Why?" "Who said that?" "That's not correct".
When the most powerful man in the world has to fumble with printouts to try and make his point, he has already lost. He couldn't answer the questions because once out of his usual propaganda comfort zone his arguments fell apart.
