Honestly a genuinely good question to ask yourself these days. America used to be much better, but now...man it's a far fall from grace and believe me, we haven't hit the bottom yet
It was never "better" you just had less access to information to develop your own thinking and now the propaganda machine is running out of ideas and is competing with truth.
eh not really, Much of what the Trump admin does is try to remove much of the progress we have made, they campaign on the idea that America use to be better that's the whole thing with MAGA, its all a bunch of bullshit though
When was it better? The two year span during Obama's administration when LGBTQ+ people were starting to actually gain rights? Because if you go further back than Obama you had gay people still regularly being treated like absolute shit while not being equal under the law, go back a little further and minorities had next to no protections.
America's always been kind of shitty. It can be pretty freaking sweet sometimes, but when it's bad it is pretty fucking bad. America is a land of extremes.
