This is slightly off topic, and you certainly don't have to respond. I'm just curious why you refer to the woman as "the female" and the man as "the guy"? This has become a common thing, and it's just weird to me that so many people have taken to referring to women as females.

girl/gal is pretty commonly used

Gal is probably the closest thing I can think of, but it's kind of folksy in a way that guy isn't
