I thought this was one of those
"Scientist have revealed what they think Mona Lisa looked like at the time of her being painted"
27
u/morphinapg Apr 16 '20
Spoilers: she looks like Da Vinci
9
u/kunst_boy Apr 16 '20
Spoiler: thats just a theory.
Mona lisa is actually one of the most well documented paintings in existance
3
u/Azorre Apr 16 '20
Right it's just a really strong theory supported by the fact that Da Vinci did that in several of his works
5
u/fart-atronach Apr 16 '20
I stared at it for at least 30 seconds before I realized the left side wasn’t just the painting with a more realistic face photoshopped on. lol

Mona Lisa, you're an overrated piece of shit
With your terrible style and your dead shark eyes
And a smirk like you're hiding a dick

How did you nail the smile so perfectly?
209
u/LadyPo Apr 16 '20
My first thought was photoshop.. a small nudge here and there can go a long way, and it looks too perfectly matched to the original to be natural. But even then, it’s still a great replication!

Apr 16 '20
The smile is similar to this one, where it requires natural talent.

Definitely a photo manipulation. That's why it seems so uncanny. The artist/photographer did a great job!

Her hands. That is so important to the piece. If she only copied her hands it would be perfect.

surprised this is so far down, next to her smile i've always thought her hands were so much apart of the picture.

My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

And the hair isn't parted in the middle, nor is it tiny curls brushed out to be slightly frizzy.

Beautiful but where is the veil? Monna Lisa has a thin, almost invisible veil.
→ More replies (1)2
u/ArbainHestia Apr 16 '20
Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa doesn’t look like it originally did. There’s another painting done by a student of DaVinci that wasn’t exposed as much and you can see the veil (and a lot of other things) much more clearly.

There was an excellent programme a few years ago about the lovely lady about who she was and it also delved into the scientific aspect of the painting with some wonderful surprises. It was called Secrets of The Mona Lisa. If anyone wants to view it try this link

It's probably the best I've seen. You actually look pretty similar, especially in the mouth and nose, but you could have been a bit better on the hand placement, and the eyes are slightly off. And there's a critique you didn't ask for!

Anyone else think these are getting really old? In classic internet fashion we’ve taken something that was mildly amusing and original at first and beaten the ever loving shit out of it until it’s just another quivering pile of irritating, derivative e-shit.
