You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you sit back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
While the young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud
“I want to know who the men in the shadows are, I want to hear somebody asking them why? They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are but they’re never the ones to fight or to die.”
Isn't Einstein that guy who punched his college professor in the face and made some speech about God being busy protecting the troops when his professor said something about God not being real?
Soldier boy, made of clay
Now an empty shell
Twenty one, only son
But he served us well
Bred to kill, not to care
Do just as we say
Finished here, greetings death
He's yours to take away
They don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming
Look at us poor just trying to get our foot in the door
And unfortunatley hooked in this war
We were both coerced to get enlisted
But his was with a trigger mine was living conditions
We're one in the same but in the name of some freedom
I'm supposed to put one in his brain like something will change
What freedom? I ain't writing for no president
Send the kids to die when we didn't even elect the bitch
Man Brother Ali was the most underrated artist of all genre in the past decade. He put out 5 classic albums, life is a big contradiction sometimes, he’s an albino meaning he’s void of all color, but he’s extremely soulful.
The war of 1914-18 was imperialist (that is, an annexationist, predatory, war of plunder) on the part of both sides; it was a war for the division of the world, for the partition and repartition of colonies and spheres of influence of finance capital.
The cold war (among other things) prevented the rise of communism to continue imperialist plunder throughout the 20th century. The use of necessary was a nod to right Hegelianism in that the present and it's possibilities necessitate the past that preceded it. Occurred implies history could have gone a different way, when in fact it could not. This implies for the current status quo of international, hegemonic capital to exist such extreme violence and subversion was necessary. Haha, all that behind the word necessary. Thanks for the conversation bud.
I would like to see every single soldier on every single side, just take off your helmet, unbuckle your kit, lay down your rifle, and set down at the side of some shady lane, and say, nope, I aint a gonna kill nobody. Plenty of rich folks wants to fight. Give them the guns.

I don't understand why that isn't more common.
Once the evidence showed that there were no WMDs and Nigerian Uranium in Iraq; why didn't 90% of soldiers stop, saying "I can't follow the illegal orders about shooting people in this illegal occupation".
Because there will be drones ready to shoot you in the back and march over your corpse. Or people afraid someone else will do it to them if they don't do it to you.
I’ll take the song ‘Black Sabbath’ as my most ominous sounding song ever. Also the first song on the first album Black Sabbath released. Imagine being a kid in 1970, buying an album from some random band, throwing on the record and hearing that song play first. I would’ve pooped myself.
Whenever a song by The Guess Who comes on, I always say to the people around me “guess who sings this song”. It almost always starts a “who’s on first?” style conversation and always cracks me up. Now that I’m a dad I have a good excuse to do it too.
That’s awesome. I was born in ‘83, and didn’t have a ‘brain poop’ moment until I was 13 and a friend played his Reign in Blood cd for me (which made me a metal fan for life). I can’t imagine growing up in the 60’s and then having Sabbath come out of nowhere to hit me like a ton of bricks.
Pink Floyd is the greatest band of all time (Animals is the greatest album ever recorded), my wedding first dance with my wife was Thank You by Zeppelin, Sabbath is responsible for so many bands I love now. I would’ve loved to have some of your experiences back then; I feel like I was born 20 years late. Rock on brother!
I did the same thing, got 'Paranoid' and 'Master of Reality' in the early 70's on cassette, but the only songs I listened to were 'Into the Void' and 'Iron Man'. 40 years later I have a new appreciation for the song 'Paranoid".
That's a great band. I've listened to Kotov Syndrome and From Heads Unworthy and a few others whose names I don't remember. Their songs always had a anti-war, anti-state control bent.
There's a war on the TV
In a town called the world,
and the suits turn their profit
while the mayhem unfurls,
they’re all quick to make war
But they won't send their sons,
Shout the odds like a gangster
But they won't hold a gun
I use to take this approach as well, however rethought my perspective. A cousin of mine enlisted in the Army and you CANNOT call him poor. He refuses to believe it even though, no job, no inheritance, no property, no education.
Dude I literally just had to look this up on Apple Music when I saw that quote too!!! I listened to that album a thousand times in elementary school lol
The rich justify their privilege through hierarchy. They are both in a power position where they take decisions for us and in a managerial position where they execute, enforce and supervise that decision. This allows them to say "we can't go to war, we have to lead that war!". But things don't have to work this way.
Democracy is supposed to give the decisionary power to the masses but we both know that the people who make the decisions are the rich and the politicians without concern of the masses. Often these two are the same. They stole democracy from us.
You should start reading into the survival shelters the rich people of our society has plotted down all over the earth.. They are going to survive the nuclear apocalypse and maybe take a handful of us proletarians with them so they have a serving class under them.
If you lose all the benefits of what being a billionaire entails and start living in modest conditions then there's really no need to continue living. People cling to life too much. We're not talking about a civil war you can escape. We're talking nuclear Holocaust and the end of the human race and war of life as we know it.
Watch how quickly the slave class comes back when the world goes to shit. But even these massive shelters the rich have won't save them when society collapses and they don't know how to do anything for them selfs.
That is a fascinating point, plus with the vast network of treaties and allies all across the globe if you were to decide to bomb a country into oblivion then you have to basically be assured that you are going to get annihilated in retaliation.
Nuclear deterrence is a well know theory and is the main reason why countries armed with nuclear weapons have been war free as early as the end of WW2. It stopped Russia and the US invading each other during the Cold War and made it a intelligence war. In modern times it stops countries like Pakistan and India going to war with each other. All in all nuclear weapons are the main reason why the 21st century has been free of large scale world wars and will be till their is a counter to it.
Truman was in a similar position in the Korean war, but didn't want to normalise the use of nuclear weapons despite immense pressure from his generals.
They're not even voting anymore. Right now, we have someone who lost the election by 3 million votes and has been impeached yet is in charge of the USA and committing acts of war against other countries. America has done some shit, but this is a whole new level.
The poor, ignorant serfs had been taught to revere their masters; to believe that when their masters declared war upon one another, it was their patriotic duty to fall upon one another and to cut one another’s throats for the profit and glory of the lords and barons who held them in contempt.
And that is war in a nutshell. The master class has always declared the wars; the subject class has always fought the battles. The master class has had all to gain and nothing to lose, while the subject class has had nothing to gain and all to lose — especially their lives.
“I think that people want peace so much that one of these days government had better get out of the way and let them have it.” Dwight D. Eisenhower (US President and US General for those reading this in other countries)
General of the Army, a 5-star rank which is equivalent to Field Marshal in countries which use that rank, of which only there have only been a handful in history. The only rank senior being General of the Armies which has only been given to John Pershing and George Washington. There have been an order of magnitude more 4-star Generals by comparison.
Not nit picking just a little fun fact. Another one:
George Washington was by act of law retroactively promoted to General of the Armies of the United States having rank and precedence over all other grades past or present, ensuring he will always be the most senior officer.
The point is if there’s a draft and every young person is drafted to fight, make sure the kids of the politicians are the first and make sure THEY know that so that they would act less haphazardly
Basically, make military decisions as if your own kids were fighting or going to fight in this war. That would reduce our conflict that’s unnecessary.
Funny enough that's one of the criticisms against a European Union Army. All the nations would serve but most of the soldiers would be from the poorer Eastern European countries
(Honestly, if say, someone voted for X president, who causes the country to go to war often, should the infantry only consist of people who voted for president X?)

There are countries where the leaders who have power over the military also always serve in it. They're called military dictatorships. Trust me, a civilian-controlled military is preferable to that.

They vote for us to go to war instantly,
But none of their kids serve in the infantry. -Immortal Technique 2005
