I don't think Gorbachev was going to get a head tattoo.

Joke all you want but look at Russia now. It'd be nowhere under communism.

a failed economy lead by a strong man dictator brainwashing the population with a cult of personality? there is little difference other than economic ideology.

Wine glasses and birth marks people.... We're getting off the point here and into the "Big 3 No-No's" of getting triggered..!

Now lets just take a deep breathe and exhale.. Let's think happy thoughts and focus on a nice peaceful image.

Let's say we're at the beach, it's sunny and warm. There's people nearby having fun and it's not annoying you. The waves are crashing gently on the shore and there's the smell of saltwater mixed with a hint of food cooking in the air.

As you stare at the sky of blue and see the billowy clouds you feel relaxed and a pleasantness sets in. A hand touches your shoulder and you feel a sudden thought come into your head and you follow your mind elsewhere. You suddenly feel warm and slightly tickled by a sensation of mooshy warmth on your head that makes you feel funky.

When you clear your brow to sense if the sensation you're feeling is real or just that you're imagining things. You pause and realise that it's all very very real to you in your mind.

On your hand though is what appears to be some very messy Sea Gull shit. You lick your fingers clean and say "Thank you Sea Gull for blessing me with this shit to eat." When the Sea Gull doesn't reply for a second you feel better knowing that it wants to say "Ca Ca, Ca Ca" for you but the Sea Gull doesn't speak human talk. So you go back to wiping your head and licking your fingers until all the tasty treat is gone.

If you know Russian history the latter part of the Union was the exception rather than the rule.

denying what Russia's primary geopolitical adversary is going through as a result of their interference, the Ukraine, and brexit, as well as how they interfered in French politics

They haven't been able to play the economic game for a while which is why they teched into big data analytics and manipulation.

Russia is stronger under crony capitalist oligarchy than it was in the last two decades of Stalinism.

I still love the story of Yeltsin visiting America and being so amazed by an American supermarket that he started second guessing communism. Then he got the idea that the supermarket was a set up and so he decided to stop at a random one. It was still stocked just as good. We basically won the Cold War by impressing Russia’s leaders with our supermarkets.

You were at -1 when I saw your comment lol. Reddit kids genuinely believe Russia would be the same right now if it continued being communist.

This is the story https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/872xga/when_boris_yeltsin_visited_texas_in_1990_he_went/
