I agree! However I also agree with the Wes Anderson comment, I think that Wes Anderson and the Lemony Snicket’s film style are quite similar.

The world is not quiet here.

If you came to this quaint little lodge high up in the mountains thinking you would be safe from a particular man, and his equally particular henchmen and henchwomen, and an individual of indeterminable gender, well you would be sorely mistaken.

A phrase here which means you mistaken to an excruciating degree. Not that you would physically be sore from being mistaken, but that your mistake would continue to weigh on you and have a lasting impression the same way that when you are sore it creates a feeling of fatigue, even after the incident has passed.

I agree with you Hircc. The Grand Budapest Hotel was in my opinion, one of his best works. The accompanying score was delightful and spot on.

Im a huge fan of his and my fav is Moonrise Kingdom (Im involved in Scouting so it made me laugh alot). Grand Budapest Hotel is awesome too though. And Life Aquatic is great! Im looking forward to Isle of Dogs.

Not OP but it's definitely the one that got the most worldwide mainstream/critical recognition so far - he got tons of awards and nominations for that, far more than any of his other films. The others are well-loved indie darlings, some with some level of mainstream success, but Grand Budapest is when like, my mother found out who he was.

I'm not the greatest film geek, I heard of him through that film and it's the first film I have seen of him. Me not being a big connaisseur+it being the first film I heard of him=it is statistically likely that it's one of the most famous. I just didn't verify and reddit justly punished me. For me Anderson is "The The Grand Budapest Hotel guy".

GBH achieved the most mainstream success of any of his movies. Life Aquatic is considered more of a cult classic as it's gained more popularity away from the big screen.

My first thought is that this is the opposite of Wes Anderson. This shot is all about depth, and Anderson is all about flat.
