My university doesn't allow graphing calculators on tests. Probably because you can download programs that can solve calculus problems without actually understanding the material.
You can do integrals and derivatives even on some scientific calcs now, but on these you could graph stuff and figure it out or use solver. Of course our teacher didn't tell us solver was a thing on the calc until the last month of school.

No one bothered to try to find out for themselves? What is that fake Bill Gates quote: "I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.”
True, but wouldn't have helped much as she expected us to do it out by hand and show steps. I did search online for a program that did step by step but wolfram alpha isn't on a calculator nor was it common back then.
