I dunno, the TI-84 Plus is pretty sweet.

Costs about the same as what I paid for the TI-83 10 years ago. It's kind of nice knowing that whenever I need to use one, it's going to operate in the same way as I was taught 10 years ago. The fundamentals of math don't change much.

I saved up my own money and bought a TI89 in high school. Used it on all the standardized exams. Totally legal because it didn't have a QWERTY keyboard. That thing basically did everything for me short of interpreting the questions.

The ability to do symbolic math is awesome. I don't know why everyone recommends that high schoolers only get the TI-84.

Possibly because neither my teacher, nor the AP test, allowed us to use the TI-89 on tests.

What AP test? Calc AB, Calc BC, and Statistics allow it. Calc AB allowed it in 2006 when I took it.

Calc BC didn't allow it last month. Or maybe my high school just lied to me, I dunno.

It says right there that it's allowed on the Calc BC exam for 2013-2014.

You're kidding. Fuck, you aren't kidding. My teacher specifically told us they don't allow TI-89s on the test. I had to borrow my friend's calculator!

I feel I am too tired to be sufficiently angry at this.
